Negative Impact of Social Media on Teenagers

Essay 2
The world has become advanced due to technology and the use of social media is increased. The
internet is also the part of the technology that has been appreciated by many of us. Social media
is the major component of the internet that has developed a huge avenue for a number of people
in order to communicate across the globe. Dejectedly, adolescents and teenagers use social
media in an excess manner which put negative impact on their growth.
The initial point for the proposed topic is the impact of social media on education. The rapid
development can be seen in technology through developing small communication devices which
can be accessed by students anytime and anywhere. These small communication devices entail
pocket computers, mobile phones, and iPad. According to Siddiqui, and Singh (74), social media
has effective features that provide a way for the student to reach each other with respect to the
class ventures. It has been found that social marketing has been developing many options for a
career. It helps young workers to become successful marketers.
There is another point which shows the influence of social media on the health of teenagers due
to excess use of that. It has been found that outside games have disappeared due to the
innovation of computer, mobile phones, and internet (Ahn, 1437). Teenagers spend their lot of
time on mobile phones, chats and social media to interact with each other which bring the health
issues. It has been stated by Akram and Kumar that excess use of social media affect the mental
as well as physical health of the students and they avoid taking proper rest and meal for their
health. It shall be noted that the abuse of these kinds of destinations once a day would bring
negative impact on the psychological and physical wellness of students (Akram, and Kumar
353).

There is a lot of positive effect of social media on teenagers such as help develop awareness,

that most teens live a protected life (Barker 210). The cultural and political awareness is
necessary for the generation to become more responsible socially. There are many teenagers who
are socially awkward and social media is the boon for them to groom their social skills.
In the opposition of the first point, Valkenburg and Schouten (585) argued that the first issue
regarding the negative impact of social media on the education is the kind of distraction of the
student in the classroom. Teenagers put a lot of personal information on social media which is
the biggest breakdown. Along with that, it has been found that social media has a negative
influence on the business as well.
It has been argued by O'Keeffe and Clarke-Pearson (211), that social media has a positive impact
as well on the health such as it can be helpful in sharing the prescription of the patient with the
doctors in an easy way. Along with that, it has a number of advantages such as support for
health-related causes; amplify the accountability to consumers, consulting doctors anywhere and
anytime.
In the contradictory of the third point, Wikström, and Ellonen (67) argued that social media has a
negative impact on teenagers such as making violence behaviour, making everything commercial
and low score in school. Along with that they can go through with distress due to low marks in
the education, less fulfilment of their desires and betrayed from their dear ones (Wikström, and
Ellonen 68 ).
It has been found from various journal articles that the world is getting more closed every day
and everyone wants to be closed through social media. The social media has positive as well as
