Introduction
According to me, one of the critical issues for the wellbeing of a nation or a region is the
health of the youth. The health and well-being of the young people have lately been
significant issues because of the higher number of people at the risk of complex diseases at
younger age itself, which not only poses a challenge of management but also decreases the
productivity of a nation in terms of economic contribution (Eckersley, 2011).
Overview of the social policy directive
The policy chosen by me for the evaluation in terms of youth health is the “NSW Youth
Health Framework 2017-24.” The policy was published in the year 2017 and the current
status of the same is active. The reason for the said policy development in the state is that
approximately one-third population of the young people of Australia reside in New South
Wales. The policy is aimed at need for healthcare that is in the lines with the needs of young
people aged between 12 to 24 years (NSW Government, 2019). In addition, the policy is
aimed at recognising the factors that lead to the young people being at greater risk of poor
health and sets out the targeted approaches for the said group. Thus, the objective of the
policy is to enhance the capacity of the workforce in the provision of providing care to young
people.
Description of the social service delivery context
In order to effectively implement a policy, it is imperative to note that the involvement of the
state and federal agencies, together with local health units and volunteers is necessary
(Gerston, 2014). It has been stated in the policy directive that the implementation would be
