Theory Reflection in Sociology
You are the Principal of an elite High School in an affluent, mostly white and Christian community. The school is known for preparing many of its graduates for college at Ivy League schools and other elite colleges around the country. You have hired a teacher, Ms. Prudesh (a young woman of Indian descent with a PhD from Harvard in philosophy), to teach the senior philosophy courses (which are used to prepare those students wanting to go into law or medicine). However, four weeks before the semester ends you begin to receive irate phone calls from parents of some of the students in the class. The parents claim Ms. Prudesh was teaching their students ridiculous, useless rituals and mystical nonsense and demanded you investigate her teaching curriculum and that she should be fired. After investigating you find out that after 6 weeks of teaching classical logic, theories of Greek and Latin rhetoric and Aristotelian philosophies (including exercises in logical reasoning and classical argumentation) Ms. Prudesh wanted to teach the class some non-Western forms of logic and was teaching lessons on the Vedic chakra and nadi system, energetic meditation exercises to cleanse their energy systems and auras and lessons
