PART 1
Solar providing solution to the existing problem and how it achieves
sustainability
Solar power is actually the future of the most building, this is because the solar system is
actually cheap in price and it is very green and it helps to save electricity bills. Since a flat studio
is decent size room of one bedroom apartment in one room having been nicely furnished.
Therefore there is a need for sufficient supply of electrical energy at a very cheap cost and green
energy (Chwieduk, 2014). Currently, there has been a problem of the electrical energy we have,
since some are unreliable, relatively expensive and also pollutes our environment making our
lives very sustainable. So the design and implementation of the solar power system in such a flat
studio.
Solar power technology makes the good use of solar energy by being tapped from the
rooftops and then converts the energy into the electrical energy (Balcomb, 2013). This help in
realization of sustainability since there will be less amount of money spent in long run. It also
help in reducing environmental pollution since the energy which will be produced is very clean
to the environment. The diagram below illustrates the solar panel is installed in the rooftops of a
flat studio;

The prototype building of the flat studio which requires the supply of electrical energy from the
solar power system is given in the diagram below;
Figure 2: Showing a prototype of a flat studio (Balcomb, 2013).
For the design and the implementation there should be a serious scrutiny of the
specification of the design which encompasses the components of the solar system (Associates,
2014). In the process of obtaining the specification there is a need to obtain the load requirement
through a feasibility study on a studio.

SYSTEM COMPONENT SPECIFICATION
There are many components which actually make up the solar power system, and for
every component, its specification which enables it to be employed in the flat studio will be
carefully analysed (Snow, 2014).
Solar panel
This is the key component of the solar power system, it is this component where the
solar energy is converted to electrical power through the absorption of the photons and then
emission of the electron from the semiconductor material (Walker, 2013). The specification of the
solar panel which could supply the electrical energy to be used in the flat studio includes the
following;
Table 1: Showing the specification for the solar panel
Number Parameter Specification
1 Maximum Input voltage (V) 20 V DC
2 Maximum Input current(I) 5.2 A
3 VOC 24 VDC
4 ISC 5. 5A
5 Maximum Power 100 Watts
Operation temperature 250
7 Surface area 1.7 by 0.8 meters ( 2 pieces )
connected in series
