Introduction
A combined solar power system of capacity of 6.7kW will be regarded as an education project.
The implementation of the project is expected to take a period of at least 12 months from the
time of feasibility study of the project. The construction of the rooms for computer studies will
be expected to be overseen by the team of the project management.
Functions
The proposed system will be effectively used to demonstrate solar energy potential as the viable
source of power for the improvement of education in the area. This will go alongside use of a
photovoltaic system for the activities of lighting and launching a computer program in the rural
schools in the remote areas. Other objectives of the systems will include provision of clean as
well as portable small solar home systems for the residents and students within Matela. This will
significantly reduce the rate of carbon emission which constitutes toxic gases from the kerosene
lamps that are used currently (Nassereddine, et al.2017).
System and Sub System
The modules of the PV system which will be used will be made up of individual cells. These
cells have been wired together in parallel and in series so that the desired current. The designed
PV will discharge to 12-V banks of battery. Connection of the number of the panels of PV in
series will allow charging of batteries at the desired voltage
In order to ensure that maximum production of energy is achieved, the modules of PV will be
mounted in an orientation facing the source sunlight. This implies that the mounting will be done
on the tracking mounts made of metals for the purposes of durability (Varma & Salehi 2017).
