This article discusses the strategies and approaches that a newly internationalising organization can take to prepare and train groups of employees to work abroad. It also explores the challenges employees often face when working abroad and how management and HR practices can assist them in coping with the difficulties and being successful. The case study of ASOS, a British online fashion and cosmetic retailer, is used to illustrate the importance of strategic human resource management in recruiting and selecting knowledgeable candidates for better performance.
