INTRODUCTION
Strategic management is the kind of activity and it is the concept that helps the company
to set the goals and objectives in order to accomplish the goals and objectives of the company
and make a company more effective and productive. It is very important concept for the
company because it helps the company to provide entire direction and path for developing plans
and policies so that the company become capable to accomplish their aims and objectives and
also helps the them to allocate the resources in order to implements the plans. This report is
going to consider Marie Curie foundation as it is the registered charitable company which is
situated in the United Kingdom and it support the individuals with their terminal illness and with
their families. Apart from this, this report is going to analyse and understand the concept
differences and approaches towards the contemporary leadership. Furthermore, this report also
going to evaluate about the leadership strategies and how leadership influence the individuals
teams and about the impact of leadership on organisational performance. Apart form this, this
report also going to understand about the ethical decision making and organisational value.

Understand the principles concepts differences and approaches to contemporary
leadership
Explain the meaning and importance of leadership
Leadership plays an important role in the company because it support the company to
direct an company resources so that the company become capable to improve their effectiveness
and efficiency. Effective leaders helps the company to provide clarity of the aims and also
motivate the company to achieve their goals and objectives. In context of Marie Curie, leadership
plays an important role because it provide motivation and provide guidance so that the
employees feel more motivated and enhance their productivity in order to achieve their goals and
objectives and bring more opportunity for the company. Effective leaders has the capability to do
clear communication to their team members about the vision of the company and they also have
the capability to organise the strategies in an effective manner. They also support and inspire the

team members towards the fulfilment of the company and also assist the company to balancing
the conflicts of interest for each and every stakeholders.
Contrast the main approaches to the study of leadership
There are different kind of approaches and theories of the leadership like trait approaches,
situational or contingency approaches and behavioural approaches.
Trait theory: This is the major method of the leadership that refers to the trait leadership
approaches as it desire to merged and integrate a mental, physical, and personality trait that is
controlled by an effective leaders in the company and not possessed by the ineffective leaders in
the company. The chosen company that is Marie Curie foundation considered this leadership
style primarily because as it is the most effective an oldest leadership method. This theory has
basically six categories of the leadership and that is physical, social, intellectual, ability,
personality, task- related and social.
Situational approaches: This is the theory that is completely relies on the different situation
factors and it also relies on the ideas and thoughts that influence the leadership behaviour
directly and it restrained the connection among the leadership that evaluate the leadership
effectiveness. The specific leadership programme in the Marie Curie is aimed to assist leaders in
adapting a style and behavioural approach that is appropriate for the group's stage of growth. As
a result, it plays a critical role in great decision and organisational performance.
Behaviour approaches: In a health and social care environment and in context of Marie Curie,
the behaviouristic method is employed to accomplish identical goals as medical services. The
major goal is to modify and mould the employee's personality so that they realise there is a
solution to overcome the challenging behaviour. A learning theory can be used to better identify
and treat medical disorders linked with sphincter abnormalities, such as infantile generated in
this study and urine retention, as well as enhance patient adherence and pain control.
Critically evaluate the role of leadership in strategic management
In order to establish and execute a plan, leader quality is fundamental. It serves as a connection
between the institution's heart and its body. The leader's vow is accountable for supporting
organizations to succeed, and this achievement is the result of making good decisions for plan
design and implementation. Great ideas become irrelevant if they are not carried out flawlessly.
Because of a lack of leadership qualities, only about half of the strategies devised reach the light
of day. A leader linked with an institute is responsible for providing the goal, and they does so by
