INTRODUCTION
Strategic management is the process in which company formulate and implement their
objectives and goals. These strategic management taken by the top management on the behalf of
top level. Strategic management is the most important tool ODF the company in which they
design plans according to the objectives. It provides overall direction to the enterprises. It helps
employees understand better plans and planning to be implemented and then allocating resources
according to the need. Besides, this is the planned structured in which they perform the task.
Present report based on strategic management. It will illustrate the strategic management of
Omantel telecommunication company which is situated in Oman. It is the service provider
internet and fixed line and provide GSM services to the users. Government taken 49% shares of
Omantel. It will cover the technological, financial and risk management of the company. Apart
from this Omantel HR strategies to recruit the candidate and their strategic innovation
positioning ion the company. Manager of the company has responsible to make strong strategic
planning in the context of complex environment. Manager needs to analyse the external
environment and analysing the affecting factors before planning strategic planning. Furthermore,
strategic management is not stable for particular time it goes change according the situation. The
main goal of the company is to reduce uncertain situation and try to make effective planning
strategies. The main purpose of this assignment is to make technological development and make
strong financial management as well.
1.Analyse of Omantel success
(a) Technological management: Technological management is the most important
factor in the company. Manager of the company needs to adopt new technological changes to
enhance the customer approach. Technological management of Omantel company is unique and
different. The focus of the company to full fill customer attraction by providing new services.
Omantel strategy generate their revenue by expansion into near core and non core areas of
business(Barney, 2014). They want make new services for repositioning in the market. Like
improve broadband proposition. Omantel manager needs to adopt new changes in technologies
to sustain in the competitive market, Also they give new better network of internet services. This
technological management helps company to get success in the market for long time.
Technology is the main factor which affects company positively as well as negatively. This
management gives high sales revenue and customer attraction. These technological factors give

more expansion strategies to the company. Apart from this Sultanate Domestic market has
changed the Omantel business model. It decreases the OTT services due to which customer get
low attention towards the organisation services. But to overcome from this issue Omantel focus
on its customer services and continued up gradation of network. 2015 turned out to be successful
year for the company(Bettis, et.al, 2016). In the competitive market still Omantel sustain its
position as a market leader in mobile communication market.
(b) Financial Management: Financial management is the another growth factor in the
company. Finance is the blood of the company which full-fill all requirement resources required
in the company. Without having enough amount of money company doesn't invest on other
activities. Omantel is known for its superior quality of services and attracting prices which helps
to attract more customers and increase sales revenue in 2015 Omantel company has increased
their profit revenue by 6.9% year to year. Omantel has earned more profit every year. This
increase the revenue in the company which means company can expand their business easily to
given more new services. Financial manager needs to make systematic finance strategies through
which company manager their all expense and revenue in proper manner(Bettis, Gambardella,
Helfat, and Mitchell, 2015). Apart from that Finance manager also make sure about the inflow
and outflow of the company. Financial growth of the company must be proper so that it helps to
implement the resources properly. In finance management there are many factors which affects
company growth like, cash inflow outflow, loss account, balance sheet these all factors must be
consider by the manager to maintain the proper environment. Due to changes of technologies
company may face low sales revenue like due to OTT ( over the top media) Omantel facing
problem of customer turnover in that case they face challenges. To overcome from this happen
company needs to plan good financial management and try to reduce additional costs in the
business. Strong financial management help company to make new expansion plan forb the
business and good investment policies to earn more profit revenue. Apart from this financial
management is refers to the effective and efficient management of money to accomplish the
objective of the company(Bryce, 2017). It is the specialised function controlled by the top
management ODF the company. This management is the most important and effective function
in the organisation. The main purpose of the management is how to raise the funds and revenue
for the company and how to allocate resources in proper manner. Omantel company is the

telecommunication who needs money to invest in other services to enhance the network quality.
Omantel needs to maintain the ratio between assets and liabilities.
(c) Risk Management: Risk is the uncertain event which happen any time anywhere. In the
competition market, it involves heavy risk of economic changes and market changes. It
makes things more critical and difficult to be solved(David and David, 2015). Manager
needs to analyse the external and internal risk involves in the environment. Risk
management of the company main objective is to minimize the risk factors and overcome
from it with the best strategies. Risk occurs everywhere. It involves in the company itself
like, sudden changes in staff, sudden changes in policies etc. the main objective of risk
manager is to analyse the risk factors and try to minimize them as soon as possible.
Manager of the Omantel needs to minimize, monitor, and control the unfortunate events.
Risk management objective to assure to company to minimize the risk factors. Risk can
come from anywhere such as threats in project economical exchanges, changes in
customers needs, legal factors, accidents risk, natural risk etc. it involves two types of
events first is negative which create risk and threats on other side positiver events which
create opportunities. There are some challenges faced by Omantel company that is
persistence changes in nature and growing unique technologies. To minimize risk factors
manager needs to adopt correction strategies and overcome plans to compete with the
uncertain market(Eden and Ackermann, 2013). Besides manager also measure the
customer needs, competitors plans. Risk management is important direction to win the
success of the company. Risk management helps company to analyse the risk factors and
take corrective action plans to overcome from the uncertain events. OTT is the biggest
competitor of Omantel company. To overcome from these effects, company needs to
adopt new technologies and customer service to minimize the future risk.
3. Evaluates Omantel Strategic Implementation
Strategic Implementation is the simple process that implement the plans and strategies
into action. Besides, it is the most important process of the company. Manager needs to control
the action plan and measure the performance level of the employees towards the plans. It helps to
adopt new strategies and plans to accomplish the goal effectively(Ethiraj, Gambardella, and
Helfat, 2016). The main objective of strategic plan is to full-fill the company goal. It involves the
company layout and plans to reach the goal. It is the critical process which created many

questions between employees. It is the responsibility of manger to guide their employees and
subordinates to implement properly according to the plan(Freeman and McVea, 2015). There are
two factors through planning is going to be successful one is HR implementation and Strategic
innovation positioning. These are the two terms which helps Omantel to accomplish there task it
is discussed below:
(a)HR Strategies: The main role of HR is to recruit skill full and talented candidate for
the company. Evaluating the success of the firm depends on the employee skills and abilities.
Human Resource planning must be proper and systematic to accomplish the overall objective of
the company. To achieve the higher competitive market. Company needs to recruit high skilled
employees to achieve them. Apart from that Employees need to be get effective training by the
company(Goetsch, and Davis, 2014). Training is the positive and effective process to give
furthermore information to employees. Employees needs training to implementing new strategic
plans. HR department plans and make new development programs to increase the employee
competency. Higher skilled employees make company environment more competitive, it gives
new opportunity and trends through which company full fill their objectives. Omantel manager
needs to recruit effective management staff which creates value for the company. Talented
employees also helps to make effective teams and group and work for the company betterment.
Besides, to ensure the performance weather employees are performed well or not HR needs to
monitor employees capabilities. HR strategies always helps company to achieve their overall
target. It gives new level of quality staff. To full-fill the strategic plans employees needs to give
better performance to the company. HR needs to keep record of each employees and measure the
performance level. HR strategies also helps to determine new talented employees, ton motivate
them HR needs to give some benefits and bonus to enhance the motivation level. HR manager of
Omantel company is to find candidates according to the job description which is more capable to
perform the task(Hill, and Jones, 2013). HR manager helps company to minimize the operation
cost effective and efficient. Apart from that Omantel HR manager needs to evaluate external
environment such as political, legal, social and economic factors, and make strategic plans to
protect the company from its effects. Apart from that company needs to recruit new talent to full
fill the strategic planning objectives. New talented employees may give innovative ideas and
plans to Omantel telecommunication company. New hires always talented and fresh minded to
show their capabilities to the company. It gives new better performance and make competitive

environment. Those employees also motivate others to work passionately. HR Manager plays a
very important role to implemented plans. Besides, Omantel manager needs to adopt attractive
development plans for the employeres so that minimize employee turnover rates(Hill, Jones and
Schilling, 2014). Attractive HR policies attract more new talented employees and helps ton
accomplish the company objectives. Furthermore, It gives negative impacts to Having no better
environment and high pressure employee wants to leave that organisation. To overcome from
this facts HR manager needs to give proper training and motivation to enhance the employee
performance. Omantel needs to avoid employee discrimination activity, it helps to increase the
faith between employee and also help to retain talented employees for long term. It makes
environment positive and healthy. HR Department is the backbone of the organisation who full
fill the needs and wants of the employees and maintain positive environment. Furthermore, Due
to heavy competition Company needs to adopt technology training session to make their
employees more competitive(Morschett, Schramm-Klein and Zentes, 2015). This increases the
growth opportunities for the company.
(b) Strategic Innovation Positioning: Market Positioning Of the company helps to determine
the actual performance in the market. It helps to make new planning and strategic ideas for future
development. Positioning strategy is the source which helps company to invest in other activities.
It is the process through which company innovate new development plans and strategies to
compete with rival firms. Positioning strategies helps company to maintain its sustainability in
the market(Peteraf, Gamble and Thompson 2014).
