ABSTRACT
This completed dissertation has evaluated the study topic which is suitable strategies that
primary teacher utilises for ensuring their teaching practices to encourage and engage learners
with the learning programs. Following has included the description about Dissertation chapter
where 1st chapter were about introduction where it covered the research aim, objective, rationale,
significance. Moving further it discussed the literature review where different themes have been
discussed and it also highlighted the arguments of authors. For the accuracy in result quantitative
approach have been utilised with deductive reasoning. For the relevancy of study both primary
and secondary data has been used where sampling of participants has been done for the interview
process. Following research also included the data analysis chapter where it discussed the
interview questions along with the interpretation, it also covered the range of recommendation
that has been made regarding teaching approach for engaging learners within learning
environment.

CHAPTER-1: INTRODUCTION
Overview
Due to the outbreak of COVID 19, many changes within the education systems and
policies of the schools, colleges, universities and organization were observed. The outbreak of
the COVID 19 led to the imposition of lockdowns in many countries in different parts of the
world. It restricted the learning and development of the students during that time. Therefore, the
government and the education authorities all over the world started to make effective utilization
of the technology in order to initiate the education and learning of the students across the globe
(Zawacki-Richter, and et.al 2020). During that phase, the schools, universities and colleges
started to use online platforms which could help them in continuing the learning and
development of the student. The present research aims to determine the strategies which can be
used by the teachers in order to encourage the learning and development of the students during
the process of remote learning.
Aims and Objectives
Aim:
Exploring strategies primary teachers utilise to ensure their teaching practice provides
additional high-yield scaffolds to motivate and engage learners.
Research Objectives
For the purpose of achieving this aim, the following objectives have been formulated:
 To determine the views and opinions of the parents with respect to the remote learning
experience of their child.
 To identify the ways in which the educators try to provide the students with real
experience within the real and virtual learning experience in order to affect the best
practice.
 To elucidate the significance of the remote learning for the children and identify whether
the learners can learn in a collaborative manner.
 To recommend strategies which could help the tutors in encouraging the children during
their online and remote learning experience.
Research Questions
1. What are views of the parents in context of online learning?

2. What are the ways used by teachers that helps them in providing the students with real life
experiences while learning remotely?
3. What is the significance of remote learning with respect to students?
Background of the Study
The imposition of the lockdowns across the globe led to the emergence of technology all
over the world. The COVID 19 made it essential for the schools, universities and the other
educational authorities to implement the use of technology in order to encourage the learning and
development of the students. The COVID 19 has led to an increase in the use of technology in
order to carry out different tasks during their activities as during the lockdowns, the children
were not allowed to move away from their homes in order to study (Mukherjee, 2019). The
present report aims to determine the relevant strategies which the primary teachers should utilize
for the purpose of ensuring that their teaching practices provides the students with additional
high yield scaffolds in order to encourage and motivate the learners during the process of remote
learning.
Significance of the Study
Since the present research is based on the concept of digital learning and suggests
strategies that will be helpful for the primary teachers in order to motivate the learners and
engage them towards the process of remote learning, therefore, it will be beneficial for other
researcher scholars who are planning to research in a similar subject. It will also hold significant
for different types of schools in order to determine the strategies and implement its use in order
to enhance the learning and development of the students. Also, it will be beneficial for the
education industry as a whole.
Rationale
The major reason behind conducting this study is to enlist the strategies which can be
used by the primary teachers for the purpose of engaging the students within the process of
online and remote learning. This is so, because, it has been observed that it is difficult to control
the students while they are learning through online platforms with the increasing use of
technological platforms in order to continue to the learning of the students. It is difficult for the
primary teachers to engage the students and hold their interest within the subject throughout the
class during the online learning experience. Therefore, it is essential to determine certain ways
which could help the primary teachers into eliminating this issue.

Structure of the Thesis
There are majorly six chapters within this research. The first chapter is introduction
which includes the aim of the study, objectives behind conducting the study, research questions,
research background, overview, research rationale and the significance of the study. The second
chapter of the study refers to the literature review. In this chapter several themes are drafted
keeping in mind the subject of the study and tries to determine the various important information
in relation to the topic of the study. The literature review is specifically based on the secondary
sources of information which relates to the subject of the research. The third chapter is the
research methodology (Melnikovas, 2018). The research methodology is the method of
conducting a research. This chapter of the study explains about the method of the research, the
type of the research, research philosophy, design, approach, method of data collecting, the
technique which has been used in order to analyse the information that has been collected for the
purpose of conducting the study. The chapter four is based on the findings of the study. This
chapter presents the data and findings with respect to the study and analyses the same in order to
form the relevant conclusions. The chapter five of the research is based on the discussion. It
depicts the major achievements of the study and states their results. The last chapter that is
chapter six is the conclusion. It summarizes the major findings of the research, states all the
relevant and major findings of the study and allow the reader to develop an understanding
towards the research on their own.
CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW
The literature review can be referred to as an overview of the findings with respect to the
subject of the study. The sources within the subject of the study includes scholarly articles,
journals, books, government reports, websites, etc. The literature review is used for the purpose
of reviewing each of the sources taken into consideration.
Theme-1: To determine the views and opinions of parents with respect to online lectures of
primary students.
According to author, it has been identified that many parents were quite satisfied with the
schools try to provide their students with online platforms in order to continue their learning and
development. This is so, because, due to the outbreak of Covid 19, the parents started to feel that
the learning, development and the growth of the children will get restricted due to the imposition

of lock down in various countries all over the world. Due to imposition of the lock down, the
schools, colleges, universities and each and every department across the world was shut in order
to stop the spread of corona virus. However, due to the imposition of lock down, the education of
the kids was put on hold which created a pressure on the parents of the children with respect to
their education, learning and development. However, the emergence of technology leading to the
development of online platforms which can help the students in continuing their learning process
while staying at home.
As investigated by author, the parents were happy as now the child was in front their eyes
and was easily able to access the educational lessons while sitting at home. The development of
the online platforms allowed the students to continue their learning and development without
putting their education on hold. Due to the development of the online classes, the students had
the opportunity to record the classes and revisit them as and when it is required by the students
during their learning process. Many parents felt satisfied with the concept of online classes as
they also had the opportunities to listen to tutor while he is teaching the students within the class
and analyse whether the students are understanding whatever has been taught within the class.
Online lectures allowed the parents to a part of the classes of their child and decide for
themselves whether the tutors are providing the students with engaging techniques within the
class or not. Also, the parents were able to determine the engagement of the child with the
teacher. This means does their child raise questions with teacher while learning remotely and
determine performance of their children within the classroom.
However, as per the views of author Turayeva & Kholmurodova, (2022) it has been
determined that even though, the emergence of the online technology and the development of
online platforms has helped the students in continuing their education while staying safe and
healthy at their home. However, there are a number of parents that do not like the concept of
online lectures. This is because, it has been identified that the it is very difficult for the child to
concentrate during a class while attending an online class because the child gets easily distracted
and have the option to turn off their camera and use other applications in the background. These
factors affect the learning and development of the students and also hampers their mental and
physical development. Also, it has been identified that several parents are not in the favour of
online learning because the children get addicted with the use of mobile phones and the parents
have no option but to provide the students with the smart tools because of their need.

Theme-2: To identify the whether online learning is beneficial for the students or not and
determine whether the students can learn collaboratively while online classes.
As per the view of Rojabi, (2019) Online learning is beneficial for the students as it helps
them to continue their learning process even in pandemic time. Due to outbreak of corona virus it
posed challenges for everyone, no one was remaining as unaffected by its effect, therefore it
imposed the lockdown in the countries which affects the business, trade and other activities.
Educational system is also hit hard by its impact where they are forced to posed the learning
process as no one is allowed to reach premises because of the contagious virus, but to not affect
the learning process of student’s other alternatives have been taken by the institutes which
concerns with the E learning. In E learning, student and teacher can involve in educational
process through software or technological platform. Many universities have taken use of E
learning platform to continue the learning process of their students, where online classes have
been conducted on the daily basis, and also with the flexibility of online platforms also enables
the teacher to conduct the assessment to test the student performance. Author further proposed
that with the online learning it helps in increasing the technical knowledge among students which
is required, as the new demand is seen in emerging technological advancement.
On contrary with the above statement author Hwang, Wang & Lai, (2021) said that online
learning is not advantageous at greater extent as it has created the social isolation among people.
As some student prefers to study in isolation but there is some student who found comfort in
their community within the campus as they can easily share the knowledge with each other and
easily ask for their doubts to their teacher. But because of Pandemic they are not able to interact
with their colleagues, from the E learning they feels sense of isolation which impact their mental
health, due to this some students also reported that they are facing depression and other health
problem because they are not able to converse with their colleagues and not able to do social
gathering. However, author (Winkler, Weingart & Söllner (2020) stated that Online learning is
useful for the students in every aspect, as now new technological devices are able to provide the
feature like virtual communication so that students can solve their isolation problem. there are
many devices which are available that supports the messaging system and video conferencing so
that students can easily interact with others and it also incorporates them to asked for their
queries in message section, so that they can easily get the answer of it. author also said that

because of Online learning student can easily look back to the previous materials in order to
conduct the in-depth research for their better understanding.
From the view point of author Alqurashi, (2019) Online learning have encouraged the
collaboration among the students, as most of the instructors involves the collaborative activities
during the delivery of their online lectures that leads to efficient student performance. Students
can easily lay out their work while discussing with others, there are collaborative online platform
which is used for the educational purpose as well. During pandemic zoom, slack, google
classroom and other collaborative tools are popularly used, as this tools have the better interface
and easy navigation which everyone can understand and use it. for the education purpose
teachers post the link of their class with just one click students can attend the class, these
collaborative tools also provide the better services like clear videos and audio services, where the
teachers can also post the class lecture materials so that students can use it. E learning platform
also supports the online community system where the students can easily become a part of the
community so that they can interact with their colleagues and discuss over the topic. Online
communities help in developing knowledge among students as they can easily share their
knowledge with each other, overall it also solves the problem of isolation among the student and
hence helps in improvising their performance.
Author Aldholay & et.al (2018) argued that students cannot learn collaboratively over the
online platform because of some reason where major concern is regarding the internet
connectivity as well as technical knowledge. Earlier before pandemic there is no such thoughts to
ever rely on the online platform for learning, so instructors do not show their concern towards
developing the technical knowledge among students. Because of lack of technical knowledge
many students as well teacher has faced the lot of problem to commence with the online software
to join the lecture. Network problem is also major issue which is raised, as due to poor internet
connectivity some students are not able to join their classes and online communities which also
posed challenge for their collaborative work.
Theme-3 To determine the ways in which the teachers provide the students with real life
experience while learning online at remote places.
According to the Muir & et.al (2019) learner engagement during the lecture is essential it
helps in enhancing their knowledge that incorporates with their learning goals. But after the
sudden outbreak of Corona have created a situation where it was difficult to conduct the classes

on premises, it has led to shift the educational system over the online platform, where classes
have been conducted through various software tool. The things which the teachers are concerns
with to engage their students with the lectures, as online platform are interesting and also it
distracts the student to check their social media accounts it ultimately affects their learning
process. In such instructors can proceed to take the measures such as being present for their
students, as by personalising the learning materials as to provide own recording instructional
videos it helps the student to learn the topic whenever they required it. However, author Vashist
& Chugh, (2022) said that by providing the videos is not only a solution, as some student started
preferring the videos and do not attend the lectures, as they already know that at the end of
session they will be provided with the course videos, thus it affects their whole learning process.
Author (Bailey & Lee (2020) proposed that other way which the instructors can proceed
with engaging the students with interesting learning materials like using the interactive features
of the collaborative tool as to not only limits to video conferencing but they can also proceed to
take use of digital whiteboard as it helps in engaging the students with the course material. By
using white board, they can present the charts, pictures, play clips so learners can completely
indulge with the lecture. Author further proposed that other way can be to conduct the one on
one session as to discuss with the students and to arrange the question and answer activity that
also helps in examining the knowledge of the students, as it keeps the learner to stay focused
over the lecture topic. In contradict with the above statement author (Dutton, Ryzna & Long,
(2018) said that One on one session is time consuming approach, as it is not possible that every
student will take part in it as some might skip it, thus it does not support their maximum
engagement within the online lecture. For that it is important for the teachers to make sure to
conduct such during the lecture not in beginning or in end for the better result.
Author Meskhi, Ponomareva & Ugnich (2019) said that there are some of the
collaborative tools are able to support the group activities, as teachers can proceed to assign the
group tasks to the students, as with this learner can easily communicate with their colleagues, as
group chat is also present over the online tool so learners can move further to complete their task.
Such activities help them to engage with the class and also helps in constructing the new
knowledge among them. Author Kolekar, Pai, & MM, (2018) argued that some students might
misuse the chat option, thus over the online tools there is no such feature that teacher can track it,
so there is an highest probability that some students can use it for their fun purpose. Overall

online tools are not able to give the real life learning experience to the students. On contrary with
above statement author Hasan & Khan, (2020) said, while using the software teachers can easily
increase the level of engagement of student within the online lecture, as by starting the class
forum is another and better approach. For that teachers can begin to use the reliable tools which
are safe and specially designed by their institute, so that they can easily monitor the student
activity over the tools. Teachers can also begin to provide the feedbacks to student during their
online tasks as it helps them to focus on their work and to improvise their work for delivering the
better output of the task.
CHAPTER 3: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research type
There are basically two types of research, namely, qualitative research and the
quantitative research. The qualitative research can be described as a research which considers the
data for the purpose of analysing and forming conclusions with respect to the study in the non-
numerical format. On the other hand, a research which makes use of all the data that is in the
format of numbers in order to form the relevant conclusions with respect to the subject of the
study is referred to the quantitative research. The present research is a quantitative research and
has made use of data that in the form of numeric and numbers. The effective utilization of the
quantitative data has helped the research scholar in attaining a great degree of knowledge in the
context of the study (Snyder, 2019). The use of quantitative methods has helped the research
scholar in clearly observing and interpreting the solutions and strategies which can help the
primary teachers in the attracting and engaging the primary students during their online and
remote learning experience within the study. The quantitate research has also helped in clearly
communicating the objectives of the data using numbers and relevant statistics.
Research approach
Research approach can be described as the plans which helps the research scholar in
conducting research. It provides the research scholar with an approach to carry out the research
effectively within the given context. There are majorly two types of research approach which are
used by the research scholars for the purpose of conducting research. They are inductive
approach and the deductive approach. The inductive approach of research is specifically used
during the qualitative research. The inductive approach helps the research scholars in analysing

the themes of the study and make effective theories on the basis of the same. On the other hand,
the deductive approach of research is used during the quantitative research. It helps in analysing
the existing theory and forming hypothesis on that basis, making observations and then
confirming the observations made. Since, the present study is based on the quantitative research,
deductive approach of research has been used. This has helped the research scholars in
effectively utilizing the existing theory for the purpose of analysing the data that has been
collected for the purpose of the study.
Research philosophy
The research philosophy can be described as a procedure which is used by the research
scholar in order to use their own knowledge and understanding with respect to the subject of the
study. The research philosophy is mainly of two types, namely, interpretivism research
philosophy and the positivism research philosophy. The interpretivism research philosophy is
mainly used in the qualitative research as it helps the research scholar in observing the data that
has been collected, interpret and analyse the same in order to present the findings and form the
relevant conclusion of the study. On the contrary, the positivism philosophy is used in the
research that is quantitative in nature. In the present research, since the data is quantitative, the
positivism philosophy has been chosen (Rinjit, 2020). The positivism philosophy has helped the
research scholar stating the facts within the research. It has also helped the research scholar in
forming the relevant observations on the basis of the facts provided with respect to the strategies
that the primary teachers should utilize in order to engage the students in the remote learning
experience. The relevant observations have been found helpful in effectively understanding the
impact of the observations o the students.
Research Design
The research design can be explained as a tactic used by research scholar for the purpose
of merging different elements of the research in a logical manner. This helps the scholar in
effectively addressing the issue of the research and conclude the relevant findings for the same.
There are generally three types of research designs i.e., exploratory, descriptive and the case
study. The exploratory research design is generally used to depict a problem that has not been
defined clearly. Similarly, the case study research design is basically used to develop an in depth
understanding towards a complex issue and lastly, the descriptive research design can be referred
to as a design that obtains information in order to explain a specific situation. However, the

present study is based on the case study research design. It has been found helpful in developing
an understanding towards the subject of the study i.e., developing strategies for primary teachers
in order to encourage students in the process of remote learning on online platforms.
Data Collection
Data collection can be described as a process of gathering data, measuring and examining
the same using standard techniques for the purpose of evaluating the data and forming the
relevant conclusions. In order to conduct research, the data can be collected in two ways, they
are from primary sources and the secondary sources of research. In the primary research, the data
is collected by conducting survey, interviews and on the other hand, in the secondary research,
the data is gathered from secondary sources such as websites, books, journals (Dźwigoł, and
Dźwigoł-Barosz, 2018). The present research includes both primary as well as the secondary
sources of research. In the present study, an interview has been conducted among 3 primary
school teachers via zoom platforms with respect to determining a set of strategies that helps the
primary teachers in encouraging the students and developing their interest while learning
digitally. The research scholar has made effective use of the secondary sources of research such
as websites, books, journal, magazines in order to determine and develop strategies that can be
used by the teachers for enhancing the interest of the students with the studies while attending
online lectures.
Sampling
Sampling refers to selecting a group of people in order to conduct a research and collect
the responses received from them, analyse the same and use them in order to represent the views
and opinions of large population. Sampling can be divided into three major heads, they are
probabilistic, non-probabilistic and sample size. The probabilistic sampling can further be
divided into simple random sampling, cluster, strata, systematic sampling and the non-
probabilistic sampling can be classified in convenience, snow ball, purposive, etc. However, in
the present study, the research scholar has conducted an interview of 3 primary school teachers.
Therefore, the selected sample size with respect to the present study is 3. The interview has
allowed the research scholar in determining the current practices used by teachers in order to
encourage the students towards engaging themselves in the learning and development process
within online classes. It has also allowed the research scholar in developing an understanding
towards the concept of online class and teachers in implement certain practices which can help

them in engaging the students towards learning via online classes. The interview among the
teachers has also allowed the research scholar in determining whether adopting the concept of
online classes with respect to the teachers is commendable or the teachers should drop this
practice.
Data analysis
The procedure through which the researcher analyses the data that has been gathered and
analyses and evaluates the same in order to form the necessary conclusion with respect to the
subject of the study is known as the data analysis (Nayak, and Singh, 2021). There are two
techniques that can be used in order to analyse the data that is collected using the interview
method. They are thematic perception test analysis and SPSS techniques of analysing the
information. Generally, the thematic perception test analysis is used to examine the data that is
qualitative in nature and the SPSS is used to examine the data that is in the form of numbers.
However, since the responses received from the respondents are descriptive and narrative nature,
the thematic perception test technique has been used for the purpose of making relevant
observations on the basis of the same. The use thematic perception test has helped the research
scholar in effectively understanding the responses of the teachers in context of the questions that
have been asked to them. This technique has allowed the research scholar in examining the data
and forming the relevant themes on the basis of the same in order to study the responses
accurately and observing the data in order to form necessary conclusions. With the help of the
thematic perception test technique, the research scholar has been able to analyse the views of the
teachers with respect to conducting online classes.
Reliability and Validity
The reliability and validity can be referred to as the accuracy and the authenticity of the
data collected. The accuracy of the data is directly proportional to the quality of the research. The
research scholar has kept certain standards in mind while extracting the information with respect
to conducting the study. For the purpose of ensuring the validity and reliability of the data that
has been collected by using secondary sources, the research scholar has only considered the most
relevant articles with respect to the subject of the study. The research scholar has made use of
only those articles that published in or after the year 2018. The research scholar has also made
use of keywords that are related to the subject of the study in order to extract the information and
data that is related to this study (Säfsten, and Gustavsson, 2020). The research scholar has made

sure that the data that has been collected using the interview method is presented as it is without
any kind of alterations within the study. Also, all the data collected from secondary sources has
been taken from copyright protected sources. All of these things adds to the strengths of the
research and ensures the reliability and validity of the research.
Research limitations
The research limitations can be referred to as the shortcomings, flaws and the restrictions
while conducting the study. However, in the present study, the major limitations were found to
the unavailability of resources, restricted amount of money, and unavailability of time. Since, the
time was limited in order to conduct the study, the sample size has been restricted to only 3
primary teachers. This has helped the research scholar in effectively examining the responses of
the teachers in forming relevant observations and conclusions with respect to the study. The
research scholar also finds difficulties in finding the information and gathering the data is
important to the subject of the study. Since, most of the websites which had the information in
relation to the practices that could help the teachers in developing and encouraging the students
to focus on learning within the online classes were restricted, the research scholar has made
efficient use of the keywords that are related to the subject of the study. This has helped the
researcher in finding the relevant information for the purpose of analysing the same within the
process of research. Since, the time was limited, the SPSS technique of research has been
ignored. However, the thematic perception test technique has been used as the data is descriptive
and narrative in nature. The thematic perception test technique has allowed the researcher to
form themes on the basis of the data collected and analyse the same for the purpose of
developing conclusion.
Ethical considerations
While conducting research, there are a set of ethical standards and guidelines that must be
kept in mind by the research scholar in order to guide their practice while conducting the study.
The researcher has asked the participants of the interview to sign a consent form stating their free
consent before participating in the interview. The consent forms states the voluntary participation
within the process of the interview (Patel, and Patel, 2019). Also, the teachers have been
informed duly about the research, the reason behind conducting the study, so that they can decide
whether they want to be a part of the interview or not. The research is inclusive of a list of
references in order to provide due credit to the authors from where the data has been gathered in

order to conduct the study. Also, the data collected using the interview method will remain
confidential and will not be disclosed to anyone without their permission. All of these features
ensure the ethical standards that has been kept in mind while conducting the study.
CHAPTER 4: DATA ANALYSIS
Data analysis can be defined as a practice of collecting the data that is relevant to the
subject of the study that is further used by the researchers in order to make informed decisions.
There are basically five steps to analyse the data collected for the purpose of conducting the
research (Lai, 2018). The five steps include the identification of the relevant information with
respect to the subject of the study, then collecting the same from different sources in order to
proceed with the research process. The third step to analysing the data involves cleaning. This
means before it could be interpreted, it is important for the researcher to study the data,
determine if there is any kind of duplicity, inconsistency or wrong and misleading information
then take the necessary steps in order to eliminate the same. Then, the research scholar
manipulates the data a little in order to identify the trends or any other useful information for the
purpose of analysing the data collected. And, lastly, the results of the study are interpreted in
order to determine the accuracy and truthfulness of the data analysis as well as the research.
Theme 1: On a scale of 1 to 10, as a teacher, how would you rate your own experience
during the process of remote learning?
P1: On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give my experience a rating of 5 as my experience of teaching
the students through online classes was quite average. I observed various advantages of the
online learning as well as several disadvantages too with respect to the students. I determined
that various students within a class are shy and introvert in nature. They do not raise questions
during offline classes, however, these students got active and raised questions during their online
sessions. Therefore, it can be stated that for the students who are introvert in nature, the
conduction of online classes was a boon. But, on the other hand, there was times when due to the
network issues, it was difficult for me to take classes and due to the same, several times, the
classes used to get delayed.

P2: During the online classes, my experience was satisfactory and therefore, I would rate my
experience as an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. In my class, I observed that the students used to pay
attention and listen to what has been taught to them very effectively. There were students who
used to raise questions whenever they found any kind of difficulty in understanding a concept.
This made me feel that they are engaged within the process of online learning and also relived
me as I am able to enhance their learning and development during the remote learning process.
P3: I would rate my experience as a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10. This is because, I faced challenges
during the online and remote learning process. The students do not used to respond while I used
to teach them. Many of the students never join the classes and some used to join and leave in the
middle. This affected their learning and development process during the remote learning.

though, I am able to hold the interest of the students within the process of online classes,
however, I lack the ability to convert the studies into fun activities. I am unable to convert the
studies into games in order to grab the attention of the students within the remote learning.
P2: I would rate my rate my skills as 4 on a scale of 1 to 5 because, I think I am efficient enough
to engage the students within the remote learning process. I have identified that I have effective
communication skills which helps me in enhancing the learning experience for the students
during the process of remote learning. I am quite good in technicalities too which helps me in

setting certain restrictions such as not allowing the students within the class after a certain period
of time. This makes them feel that they are at loss and influence them to attend the class on time
next time.
P3: I would also rate my skills as 4 on a scale of 5 stars with respect to having sufficient skills
that helps myself in engaging the students within the remote learning. I make use of certain tools
and involves practices of teaching that allows the students to participate within the process of
online learning. Just after explaining a specific concept to the students, I ask the students with

P1: On a scale of 1 to 10, the level of difficulty that I faced was 6. One of the major difficulty
that I used faced during the conduction of online classes was that the primary students did not
have their own cell phones, tablets, personal computers or laptops which could help the students
in attending the online lectures. The students used to use the cell phones of their parents for the
purpose of attending the online lectures. However, the parents used to face difficulties as their
child needs their cell phones in order to attend the class. This hampers the working of their
parents and at that time, the lockdown was imposed, therefore, it was hard for the parents to
purchase new cell phone or laptops for their child. Because of this reason, many students find it
difficult to attend the lectures, this in turn increased the challenges for me.
P2: I would rate my level of difficulty on a scale of 1 to 10 as 5. The major reasons that caused
difficulties for me in order included the lack of technical knowledge. I am not efficient with the
use of technology. However, in order to continue the learning and development of the kids, I

tried to develop an understanding towards the use of online tools. But, at the same time, I used to
face difficulties in conducting the classes as it involved several features such as muting and
unmuting the call, screen sharing the notes, showing the face online and many more. This led to
the development of certain challenges for me.
P3: Well, I would rate my level of difficulty as a 2. This is so because, I did not actually find any
kind of difficulties during the process of remote learning. Only one thing that led to the
development of challenges for during the conduction of online lectures of the network issue.

P1: In my opinion, the level of difficulty faced by students on a scale of 1 to 10 should 7. The
children are very much affected by their environment. They learn a number of things from their
environment and their peers. If one child is sincerely learning, the others will look up to him and
learn the same from him. However, due to the online classes, the primary kids started to feel
isolated as there was no one around when they were attending the classes. This affected the
learning and development of the young students during the online remote learning process.
P2: The level of difficulty and the challenges faced by the students during the online learning
process were huge. Therefore, in my opinion the level of difficulty on measure of 1 to 10 should
be given 8. The conduction of online classes led to an increase in the screen time of the primary
kids at a very young age. The excessive screen time can be a cause of obesity, sleeping issues,

neck and back problem at a young age. The excessive use of technology also develops irritability
within the children and affects their behaviour.
P3: In my views, the level of difficulty faced by the students should be rated as 5. The online
classes and remote learning of the young students provides an opportunity to the students to get
distracted during the same. It has been determined the students easily get distracted within the
online classes as they have the option to use different types of social media applications which
hampers their learning and development during the process.

experiences within the virtual classes. I used to provide the students with the study material in
advance so that the students get the required amount of time in order read the lesson in advance.
Reading the lesson in advance allowed the students to easily understand the concepts and
chapters that I am teaching them within the classroom. Also, I used to ask questions in between
the lecture by taking up the names of each and every individual within the classroom. This
technique used to help me in increasing the engagement of the students during the process of
remote learning.
P2: I would give myself a 3 with respect to providing the students with a real life experience
within the virtual learning process of the students. I used to link the studies with the fun activities
and games in order to hold the interest of the students within the classroom. The games within
the online classes helped me in engaging the students within the online classes. Also, the games

made it easier for the students to understand the concepts and develop an understanding towards
the same.

engagement within the virtual learning process as 4. I used to adopt a number of strategies in
order to enhance the learning and development of the students within the online classes. I used to
provide the students with sufficient amount of study material in advance so that they get

just after finishing a lesson. I used to communicate to the parents about the performance of their
child within the class and also asks them to convey their views with respect to the online

tests on a regular basis within the online classes and also used to note the performance of each
and every student within the classroom. On the basis of the results received, I used to analyse
those results and determine the areas where the child needs improvement. On the basis of the
same, I used to set goals for each and every student and assign them individually in order to
accomplish the target within a stipulated time.

the students within the classroom. In order to individually set goals for the students, I used to
determine their weak areas by conducting a quiz at the end of the class. With the help of the quiz,

I used to determine whether the students are understanding the lessons taught or not. This

P1: I would give myself an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. I used to ask questions to the students in
between my lectures in association with the subject or the topic that I am taking within the online
class. I used to do this on a regular basis and asks questions randomly to the students. With the
help of this technique, it was easy for me identify whether the students are listening and learning
within the class or not. I also use to maintain a sheet in which I used to mention the performance
of a child after the class. This sheet used to help me in comparing the existing performance of the
students with the previous performance.
P2: I would rate myself as a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. I used to conduct weekly tests within the
class and maintain the record of the results of each and every student within the class. I also used
to provide the students with different types of assignment which needs to be completed within a
stipulated time frame. On the basis of the results of the weekly tests and the level of performance
within the assignments, I used to compare and contrast the current performance of the students
with the previous performance. This technique was quite useful for me in tracking the
performance of the students within the online classes.

P1: In my opinion, the teachers to make use of interactive teaching practices in order to increase
the engagement of the students within the process of online and remote learning. I have
identified that online classes can get boring because, most of the time the students keep their
mics of in order to avoid the disturbance while taking the lecture. During that time only the tutor
is speaking. This makes the lecture boring for the student as well as the teacher. Therefore, the
teachers should adopt interact and inclusive teaching practices which allow the students to freely
communicate with the teacher with respect to the subject. This will help the teachers in
effectively increasing the student engagement within the class. I would give 4 on 5 to this
strategy in terms of its effectiveness.
P2: I think in order to attract the students towards the subject, it is important that the teachers
make use of presentations that are highly attractive and make use of visuals, graphics, videos in
order to make the students understand about a specific topic. The visuals, graphics and pictures
makes it easy for the students to learn the concepts and take interest in learning and development
within the class. I would give this strategy a 5 on 5.
P3: In my opinion the teaching practices should be able to link the subject to funny activities.
This helps the teachers in making the students understand about the various concepts associated

with the subject as they are interested in playing the game and linking the concepts with finny
characters as a part of a games allows them to develop a learning towards the lessons within the
online lectures. I would rate this as 3 on scale of 1 to 5.

CHAPTER 5 : FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION
It has been evaluated from overall discussion that Virtual learning is the new revolution
which has been providing the better learning experience to the learners. Based on the interview
which is conducted it has been said that because of E learning, concern regarding ICT skills and
other technicalities has been raised. Before this there were no such arrangement where the
teacher shows their attention towards the development of technical skills among the students, but
now situation has made them realise to teach about the technical things as it will help them to
operate with any technological software and to refers them for their better understanding. On the
basis of the responses which is gathered from the interview process, it is found that because of E
learning most of the students have developed the feeling of isolation as through virtual medium
they are only able to do virtual communication, thus in such it was difficult for them to
encourage the students to actively engage in the learning process. Teachers have adopted the
approach like to develop the online community where the students are allowed to share their
views and opinion, where study materials can also be posted that helps in their efficient learning
process.
It has been analysed that teachers have adopted the better teaching approach to increase the
collaboration among the students. Teacher have proceeded with arranging the activities over the
online platform to ensure that every students is taking part in it, as through which the teachers
can encourage them to actively part in online learning as well. It is also found that teachers have
commenced with providing the constructive feedbacks to students, it keeps them motivated
towards their learning process. It is also interpreted from the above analysis that instructors have
also taken the approach like to add the flexibility into the curriculum, engaging the students by
allowing them to use their existing knowledge and skills to complete their curriculum tasks also

made them able to engage with the virtual learning environment. it is found that using of
different online platform to provide the better learning also helps in engaging the students with
the course.
Some challenges have also been identified that are associated with E learning or virtual
learning. It is found that this type of learning has made students isolated and introvert students
are finding easier in completing their study. But it can have negative impact on them and their
career growth. In this context, it can be said that students who are introvert and do not prefer
going outside, are more likely to face in finding employment opportunities. For getting
employment opportunities as well as performing job roles, they need to have an effective
communication skill. It can be improved when students talk and interact with different behaviour
of people and for that they need to have face to face or direct conversation. It is the reason as
virtual learning as compared to traditional learning is not effective. But number of people
support this learning in this modern era.
From the overall analysis it has been found that virtual learning has created the major
impact over the learning method, where the teachers are able to teach their subjects through
different E learning problem. it is found from the responses of the instructors that Zoom, Video
conferencing are the most used platform where they have conducted the online lectures, as with
just one click over the link students are able to join the class, they do not need to gone through
some extra processes. As it is convenient, also they have stated that reason for selecting such
collaboration tool is that these tools have the better interface and simpler to use and also have the
interesting features that helps in engaging the students with the learning process. All these tools
are making tutors able in increasing knowledge among students and making virtual learning
successful. These tools have made tutors able at the time of covid-19 in delivering lesson plan
and increasing knowledge among students related to their subject topic. Overall, it can be said
that virtual learning is effective one and it should be developed for increasing experience of
students.

CHAPTER 5: CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
CONCLUSION
From the above research report it has been concluded that in order to conduct study in
context with the teachers to provide the better learning process and to engage the students during
remote learning, this study is useful for other scholars as well who picked this subject to study in
it, this study is beneficial for the schools and other institutes as they can easily proceed to follow
the ways from which they can easily engage their students within the remote learning process.
This research study has followed all the research ethics and methodologies in order to complete
the study. Following have discussed the information as chapter wise, where the initial chapter is
about introduction where it covers the research aim and objectives, it also includes the research
rationale and significance of the study and research questions, further it has discussed the thesis
structure where it involved the brief discussion about the rest of the chapter which is covered
within the research project. Next chapter is about the literature review where it discussed the
theme which is about Parental views regarding their child’s learning through online mode during
the pandemic time, it highlighted the different supportive and refutative arguments of the author.
Furthermore, it has discussed the theme which is about to determine whether the online learning
is advantageous for students or not, where it also include the information regarding as students
can be abled to collaboratively learn within the online classes. In this literature review chapter
where the responses of authors have been discussed over the themes that is made on research aim
and objectives. This literature review and secondary data can provide information on virtual
learning and everything that have been experienced by learners so far. Secondary information
can make researchers able in knowing about research topic in detailed manner and accordingly,
study can be completed in a successful manner.
Furthermore, it has illustrated the discussion about the chapter which is research
methodologies which is important for every research study. It has highlighted the use of research
strategy and other methods that has played a good role in completing the study. For which
researcher have selected the quantitative study method for that alternative deductive approach
have been referred by the analyst, in this positivism, descriptive approach is also taken by the
research analyst to conduct research on this topic. Discussion over the data method is also
included where the study is based on both primary and secondary method, for the secondary data

relevant and published articles have been selected which consists of the latest information and
are peer reviewed. For collecting the primary data, researcher have conducted the interview of
the participants to ask them about their views over the research topic. It also included the
description about the ethics and reliability which is required in the research topic. In chapter 4 it
is about data analysis where the different interview questions have been included along with their
interpretation, while it also highlighted the views of the participants about their responses to the
interview questions. Lastly study is concluded with the recommendation where the suggestion
have been made to instructors to proceed with the better approaches to engage their student
within the virtual learning environment. These suggestions and recommendations in regard to
research study as well as research topic can help out researcher in conducting successful studies
in the future. It can help out researcher in knowing areas where he is lacking behind and
accordingly by improving areas, effectiveness can be increased.
RECCOMENDATION
From the overall evaluation it is found that lots of students and tutors have faced the
challenge regarding their virtual learning environment, but due to the worsen situation that is
created by covid has led the institutes to adapt such for continuing the learning processes of
learners (Peterson-Ahmad, Pemberton & Hovey, 2018). To engage the students within the virtual
learning course teachers can begin to do such alternatives that are follows:
 To develop the online community is one of the effective method to engage the students
within learning environment, as because of covid students have complained about their
social isolation (Topu, & Goktas, 2019). Therefore, in such online community helps in
enhancing flow of knowledge among the students where they can openly share and
discuss about what they are feeling, with respect to learning concept teachers can begin to
assign them a task and post it in online community so students can collaborate and
proceed to complete their project.
 To develop individual learning plan, it is a unique and better method, teachers can begin
to provide the individual plan during virtual classes. It also involves the active use of
technologies so teachers can monitor the learner performance (Lacka, Wong & Haddoud,
2021). By analysing the learner’s performance teacher can easily able to identify the

holes in their knowledge so they can adopt the better approaches for their lessons which
highlights the information regarding type of learning which the students prefer.
 Integrating the face to face interaction over virtual medium, as to combat the isolation
problem teacher can begin to conduct the one on one session with their students and to
ask them about their feelings over the virtual learning environment, so it overall helps the
students to actively part in learning process, as it is important for their learning goals
(Cooper & et.al 2019).
 Another thing which the teacher can proceed to do is to allow the students to do group
tasks so it enhances the collaboration among them, it helps them to construct the new
knowledge and without being feeling isolated they can proceed to interact with their
colleagues and to focus on their group tasks (Liu & et.al (2020).
 Solicited feedbacks, it is another approach to indulge the students with virtual course
materials, as feedbacks will help them to improve their learning process, it also enables
them to engage with learning to clear their all doubts and queries (Lomicka,2020).
 From the overall evaluation it is recommended to the researcher that for this research
study, quantitative method for the interview have been selected, further analyst can also
shift to quantitative questionnaire methods (Namboodiri, 2022). Researcher further can
proceed to go with the alternative options like to conduct the research by using qualitative
study method as it offers the greater flexibility. In this interview have been conducted for
the few respondents, in future researcher can begin to conduct interview at large scale, as
it helps in providing the reliable data in large amount which helps to draw the conclusion
of the study. It is believed that by getting information and reviews from large number of
samples, researcher can accomplish its goals in an effective manner. It can increase
knowledge about research topic and by getting data in a detailed manner, decisions can
be made accordingly. In addition, it can also be said that qualitative study gives
information in thematic and feelings form. So, by conducting qualitative research as well
ad conducting questionnaire, in-depth information could have been gathered.
