Briefly explain the term ‘workplace diversity’.
Workplace diversity refers to the people of varied cultural backgrounds that work together
at various workplaces. Workplace diversity is an organization employing a large number of
different types of people towards the job roles provided.
Question 2
Briefly explain 3 potential benefits of diversity for an organisation for each of the following:
Individuals
Individuals can learn to accept different cultures, improve their language skills and greatly
develop their cultural communication.
Teams
Teams can learn to accept the differences of opinion of the culturally different team
members. More importantly, they can perform better after integrating.
The workplace
The reputation of the workplace is positively affected due to the large number of people
from different backgrounds.

List and briefly explain four (4) relevant legislations that need to be followed when developing a
diversity policy.

1. Equal opportunity for Women at workplace Act 2011
2. Workplace and gender equality Act
3. The racial discrimination Act
