Part 1: Reflective Writing
According to Cowan (2014) reflective writing is a writing that a person practice in order
to describe an event that he/she has attended or experienced over a time. In this writing the
person writes its own reflection or own thought that it feels he/she has learn through the event.
There are various questions that the writer of reflective event ask it its oneself about the event it
has experienced such as “What did he/she learn?”, “Why was the event important?:” and so on.
This helps them to know the actual understanding of the attendant event. Reflective writing is
written after attending the event and not by listening to the experience of others.
Purpose of Reflective Learning:
1. Help them to learn a lot from a practical experience
2. Help the writer to notice the places where they lacked learning and addressing them in
future events (Farrell 2013)
3. It help the writer to make sense of whatever they are writing
4. It gives a chance to the writer to think deeply about a topic and get to learn various things
5. It is the best way a person can learn from their own experience
Part 2:
Lecture 1: Typology (Cultural event)
The typology here describes a cultural event. Cultural events refer to events that takes
place for to bring various culture together under one roof and interact with each other. Such
events also help people to know about others cultural and tradition (Kwon et al. 2015). It is done
to celebrate the practice and customer of two or more cultures.

This topic helped me to learn that cultural events are important and the way it helps
others to get linked with the cultures of others. This will not only help me to learn about others
tradition, it will also help me to love their customs and belief.
I got to learn about cultural events by reading various articles and books that well
describes about different types of event management and the importance it has on the society.
These articles also described cultural events very appropriately and nicely.
There are various benefits these cultural events offer to people and the society:
1. Such events in colleges allow students to connect various types of resources available to
them for different kind of activities
2. It helps to build the community for the students as well as for the society
3. It helps different culture to present the strength and passion of their community and
beliefs in front of others
4. It allows community to come together and help them learn the benefits of togetherness
5. Lastly it helps the children to grown in a better future (Brida et al. 2013)
The event that I attended had relation with the concept of cultural event that I studied because
it was also a multicultural event that required students from various community to come and
present the foods of their culture. It also helped me learn similar things that I identified in the
benefits of cultural events to the society.
Lecture 2: Team Work
Team work and team development is the way by which few people form a group in a
place to take part in certain activity or task. A team does not occur by themselves, as it is created
by the members of the activity. A team is of great importance to the society as it helps to develop

personalities and also form collaboration between different personalities. Team is a formation of
performance that evolves from various members over time (Galegher et al. 2014).
Team work and team development topic taught me the importance of team work and
collaboration in any activity. It taught me that working in a team offers a lot of benefits that one
cannot attain while working alone. I learnt that team is the way to success that one can get by
adding the views and ideas of every member. It is the best way to finish the task before time and
accurately.
I read about team work and its usage from various event management group in which it
explained the importance of team work and its effectiveness with the help of various examples.
Team work offers various benefits not only to the events as well as to every member such
as:
1. Greater knowledge about the topic he/she is working in
2. Help members to approach the topic or incident through different approaches
3. It helps in better formulation and facilitate in reaching a decision
4. Sharing of cross-ideas with each other
5. Better accuracy of every event and its results
Team work applied to the event because it was a cultural event in which a lot of people took
part and everyone had their own role to play in the event. This helped the team to
successfully complete the event and earn potential profit.
Lecture 3: Risk Management
Risk management is managing a situation that every work or every activity involves in
the event. It is the negative outcome of every activity that one expect if the desired result is not

achieved. Risk is not expected solely in an event. It can take place at each and every thing that
happens in reality. However, usually risk is directly linked with two types if risk such as safety
risk and financial risk (McNeil et al. 2015). Thus, management of such risk and stopping them in
time is called risk management.
Risk management helped me to learn that it is not necessary to be afraid of the risk or
issues involved in any task without taking part in it. It has also helped us to learn various ways in
which a person can tackle risk and get rid of it as soon as possible. Running away from taking ris
is not the beneficial decision as almost all types of work involves risk.
I have learned about risk management strategies and activities from articles and reports
published from time to time. Reading those article and by explaining the concept to others helped
me a gain a lot of essential knowledge from it.
There are various benefits that the concept of risk management offers to a person:
1. It helps in reporting the risk at the right time
2. Improve the perspective of risk the way it should be
3. Management of risk helps in mitigating the risk at the best possible way
4. It helps in forming effective coordination of critical matters (Lam 2014)
Risk management concept is related to the event that I took part in because there was a lot of risk
connected to it such as the chance of profit, the success of the event and others. However, we
learnt risk management by planning and analyzing every task before implementing it. This
proved to be the reason of our success.

Part 3: Self Reflection
Different topic that I learnt during this event and from the reading various article about
different types of concepts such as risk management, team work and typology of cultural event.
These topic allowed me to learn that all these activities are important in every event that we
participate in. I would prefer to use team work in every activity I participate. This is because I
learned that through effective team work a person can easily cope up with everything. Teamwork
helps in coping up with the risk involved in a activity and also help in spreading the true
knowledge and usefulness of cultural event. The key points that I learnt from the activity and that
I can share with others outside the event is that risk is not a situation to be avoided. It is
beneficial to take part in the risk and learn to fight it back. Moreover, I also learn to time
management skills during this task because it is the most crucial factor in any activity. Managing
the time not only help in finishing the work in time, it also helps in completing it effectively
(Smeets et al. 2014). I would love to arrange one more event with few member that wants to
learn these skills and help them carry out the work efficiently. The event can be anything such as
a team project or a recreational event that people would love to take part in. teaching time
management top other is most essential because it will help in dealing with other activities as
well such ad financial tasks, teamwork and manage work pressure. Thus according to me time
management is the most useful thing to learn and make people aware of it. The information that I
would like to use in future to develop my career is time management only. This is because time
management will also help me manage tasks during exam and help me in exceling every task we
do. This will help me reach heights in my career by helping me completing all my lessons in
time with the time management skills. Thus, these are the concepts I learnt during these activities
both from the event and readings from articles.
