INTRODUCTION
The role of Higher Education and personal development is increasing year by year in
social development and in sustainable economic. Higher Education gives a person an opportunity
to get success in today's global economy world. Various universities provide modern
programmes to their students with the aim of preparing them for different future. It is very
important to learn and grow in today's competitive world in order get stand out from the crowd.
The idea of personal development also guides a person in gaining the diverse attributes to solve
the business problems and improves their behavior to face the diverse environment. Essential
personal skills require personality traits, personal attributes, inherent social cues and
communication abilities. Personal development skills adds various skills in the CV, and this is
necessary for all those people who does not have required experience of working in the particular
fields (Avlaev, 2020). The given essay is about some methods which could be used in
maintaining an effective resume, so that it can help to grab the attention of recruiter, along with
personal development to express view over the formation of effective CV and explaining the key
problems.

After completing the higher education every individual will start looking for a suitable
job Meeting his or her education qualification and to get a good job it is very essential to
maintain an effective curriculum vitae. Basically, a CV is a document that have detailed
information of an individual's academic, work credentials and other experiences. It present
comprehensive profile of the candidate containing his or her full name, education qualification,
hobbies, address, achievements, computer proficiency skills , other curriculum activates, martial
status, known language and career goals, and it also includes individual's awards, honours,
publications and other recognition (Jackson and Tomlinson, 2022). The candidate have to present
this CV to the hiring manger whenever he will go for interview. But one thing that has the
ability to increase the quality of the CV is the work experience of the candidate and if one does
not have any work experience then the journey of his career is going to be little harder. Now, the
question arises if there is no work experience then how an individual can enhance the
presentation of his CV? So, there are many ways which one can be opt by the candidate that can

help him in presenting a better resume for the job. After global pandemic, the employment
opportunity has declined for the youth in various countries which make it difficult for them to get
a suitable job for them. The best way a candidate can opt is Upgrading his or her personal skills
which helps in making the CV more enticing and efficacious. But In the absence of sufficient
work experience one can work on his or her set of skills as it indicates the potential and
capability of an individual which could be helpful in the better performance of the employee and
it give benefit to business organization as well (Passmore and Sinclair, 2020). When person start
analyzing his or her skills then it will be easy for him to identify his area of weaknesses where
sufficient improvement is needed. Again by examining his or her personal skills the candidate
can come to know about his potential areas in which he is highly trained and have required skills
this will help him to attain a good position at the work place. Virtual internship and online
training is a good option to get remote work experience. Online career and skill development
program is gaining lot of attention in the current period. During the COVID period when there
was complete lockdown in the nation many universities starts providing various online courses to
their students to enhance their knowledge and skills. various online websites also provide
internship training, courses and skill development program many people start opting these
courses to enhance their knowledge and skills in their respective fields. These websites also
certificates after the completion of the course. By achieving the certificate from online platform
and displaying them in the curriculum vitae will build up the strong image of the person for the
specific job. Their are some famous companies which are providing internship programmes for
freshers and various youth and freshers are enrolling this programmes to develop their
knowledge and ideas in respect of their particular fields and to know about the working culture
of corporate world. Connecting people from same education and from same field can be useful
for people because by doing this they can get the chance to learn more about their field from
experience people. A fresher employee can connect with his seniors in the organisation because
they are more experienced and have greater knowledge regarding the functioning of the
company. To learn about skill development an employee can meet with the human resource team
because they are experienced in that particular field(Holzweiss, 2018). By gathering desirable
information from such working individual will also support in achieving the same amount
experience. Career counselling session is also conducted to encourage the youth, so that they can
know their worth and give their best in achieving all the goals in their life. It can play a very

important in helping individual people to overcome their obstacles which are coming in their
career success. With proper guidance and support , career counselling session can help individual
to identify those barriers that are preventing them from achieving their career goals. A career
counsellor can provide encouragement and support to the individual when they are facing any
difficulty in their career. Some small-scale business firms are continuously focusing on hiring
those individuals who have completed their education in some particular field for their internship
programme. Application of good plan and strategical approach in these organisations can help in
procuring the knowledge and experience.
In my CV there are are some points and skills which are missing and on which skills I
have to work hard. From the above discussion it got clear that skills plays a essential role in the
curriculum vitae, but there are some abilities that are crucial and basic and in which I am not
effective at all and not having those skills can be a drawback for me as these skills are going to
missing in my CV and hiring manager mostly focuses on the skills, knowledge and achievements
section in my resume in order to know my abilities regarding the particular job position for
which I am giving interview. Another important skill which is missing in my CV is effective
communication skills. I have to work on my communication skills because without effective
communication it is going to be difficult for me to face to face interact with my fellow
colleagues and with the professionals of the business management. To tackle all this problem I
can go for online courses related to skills development at the workplace which will be helpful in
attaining all the missing skills that are required to be mentioned in my CV.

Universities help students in gaining the proficiency in the fields and subjects for which
they have applied for. But it further help students in attaining different skills which are required
in completion of different task and these skills are going to play very essential role in students
life when he or she is going to do jobs in different sectors. Communication which is a very basic
form of ability but it is very important in academic life as well at the work place. Good
communication skills build a strong friendship. It is the medium through which an individual is
able express his thoughts, views and speaks confidently in front of the audience (Pehlivan,
2020) . It is very important to remain friends with other people in this competitive world because
it gives power through which one person understand the words of other in efficient manner.
Good communication is not limited to our personal growth but it also helps in improving the

qualities of individual which can be used by him to perform better. Students can improve their
communication skills by taking part in debate, speeches and can attend seminars and conferences
at their college and university and it going to be effectively contribute in their skill development.
Students should choose their words wisely, they should avoid using jargon and slang in their
conversation because only few selected group of people will understand and their main points
will be lost in meaningless jargon. Oral and written communication is plays a very essential role
at the work place also because if employee do not have effective skills of communication then he
will not be able to interact with his bosses , colleagues and it will directly effects the productivity
of the employee (Holzweiss, 2018). It is well said “to be a good communicator, it is essential to
be a good listener first. It is very good to listen with all our heart by paying proper attention to
the point. Students should involve themselves in practising effective listening skills and should
pay close attention to what other people are saying. And also they should clear their prominence
by re-framing their question for better understanding. If students disagree with someone else
point of view they should communicate and sympathize with them instead of simply start
arguing with them. Having effective listening skills is very important at the workplace because
without it an employee will not be able to perform well in the company. When employees are
paying proper attention to what their team members are saying It automatically helps in building
the better bonding among the members of the team who are working on the certain task and
activities. If consider the importance of this quality at jobs then it supports in giving the
assurance to the subordinates that their words are being valued by the management and it
effectively contributes in the completion of decision making. The next important skill which
every student should possess is effective time management skill, because in today's busy world
the skill of time management for student is increasing day by day. Students should master in
learning how to manage their time effectively without wasting it. But many students struggle to
get time to compete their homework, assignments which lead to feeling of stress and frustration
among themselves. Time management is the most important skill as it ensures the efficiency of
the person and check out the different attitudes through which it becomes easy to eliminate the
situation which leads to the wastage of time. Time management skills plays a vital role at the
work place. Time management is not about working hard but it about working smarter so that
employees do not engulf themselves and put excess pressure on themselves (Alias, 2019). When
employees manage their time well then they will be able to meet their deadlines on time and it

will improve their efficiency and they will be more productive in their work and will deliver their
best work on time. Employees will have greater level of job satisfaction because they will feel
less stressed which will assist them with career progression and it will also increase their
efficiency and performance in the organisation (Morris, 2018).
Students become responsible when they start going to school or universities on their own
by waking up for classes and completing their assignments and work on time, making their own
food its all up to them now. So we can say that responsibility is a skill which students develop at
schools and universities this skill might be little hard at the beginning but it is going to benefit
them in the long run. Roles and Responsibility skills plays a crucial role in the working of any
organisation. When employees know their jobs and responsibility in the organisation then it
creates accountability among them and they clearly know their duties for which they are
accountable and what is expected from them. When their jobs duties and roles are clear then it
will prevent them from overlapping in their responsibilities this will help in maximising the
efficiency of the employees and they will work hard to achieve the organisational goal. When
employees have clearly defined their responsibilities at the workplace than training and
onboarding become easier for them. When employees have proper understanding of the
workplace in which they are working then it will boost their confidence while performing their
duties and contribute to less confusion , less error and enhances their job satisfaction. Making
projects in team and doing work in groups requires collaboration and team work which is a skill
that student develop at universities for developing this skills in the students most of the
universities organise group projects, group discussion to enhance this skill in them. but if one do
not know how to work in a team, then they need to get experience of working on a team because
collaboration and team work skills are required at every workplace and plays a major essential
role in the organisation. Collaboration is very important at the workplace because it allows
employees in knowing their ability and focus on what they do best that will provide benefits to
the entire team. Employees have their own strengths , abilities and specialities which they bring
to the team and that helps in strengthening the productivity and efficiency of the entire team
(Maniam, and Pruekpramool, 2019). Team work also helps employees to enhance their social
and communication skills by learning to connect with their peers which will also improve their
decision making skills and they can present their strategies and results to the team leaders. This
also help employees to learn from each other as they are from departments within a company.

require a lot of research to complete. Research skills are very essential for employees in the
organisation because it helps companies to develop new products and services. Employees can
use these skills to identify wants and needs of their customers, and can improve policies and
procedures to keep up with the changes to compete in the competition market (Folliard,and
Sanders, 2022). Research skills are important at the work place because they help company's to
find out problems that are affecting the performance and ability to complete tasks. Some other
advantages of research is that it helps companies in evaluating and examining the behaviour of
the customers, by doing this administration can work on building new criteria that will suits to
the current trends in the market of the industry. Selection of the production techniques and
engagement of advanced technology in the firm is likely to be done by performing proper
research.
In today's modern era we are surrounded by digital world and improved our lifestyle by
making it better, faster, easier and more convenient. So having technological skills becomes very
important. Teaching students the technological skills will be very helpful in shaping their life as
well as growing the country in technical field. But if students are not familiar about basic
software then universities should make them aware about online communication tools like zoom
and slack. During the pandemic period classes were running online which help students to learn
about various online software that enhance their technological knowledge. Information and
communication technology skills are the elements of many industries which allow them to use
different tools everyday to perform several tasks like sending mails and taking advantage of
using programming languages in building proprietary business software. Information technology
and communication skills are very important in the employment sectors because it helps
organisations to operate more efficiently, so company should focus on employing those staff who
has proper technological skills as it very essential for the smooth functioning of any business
(Impedovo, M.A., 2021). Those employees who can use information technology and
communication system effectively have more time to focus on those areas of their job role which

require soft skills. Various universities provide hypothetical life question to their students to
challenge their thinking ability. College and universities are the best place to learn critical
thinking skills because it is the ability of the students to think rationally and clearly by finding
out the logical connection between ideas. Many universities give assignments and projects which
test the thinking ability of the students as these topics require lot of research and self ideas to
complete the task and students also take this as a challenge to improve their ability to think more
effectively. Students who want to start their career in medical, law, finance and many other fields
require high level of critical thinking skills. Critical thinking is very important in the workplace
because it helps individuals and team members to find out any problem more effectively and also
helps in identifying possible solutions for the problems. Employers require these skills for
preparing strategy as it is essential part of their job (Polat and Aydın, 2020). It is considered as
soft skills as this skill is inherent in person's personality and it possible to develop this skill.
