1 — Critical Thinking
I have learned about very important topic which is Critical Thinking. I have learned this through
power point presentation. I have learned that what is critical thinking and why critical thinking is
important in academia. This helped me know that how managing information when overloaded
with work. Also, I have learned that how own experiences are similar to own approaches and

methods. Reviewing the information is also an essential aspect which was being learned. There
were six easy steps to evaluate critical thinking process in academia which was relevance,
expertise, viewpoint, intended audience, evidence, when published.
Further, I had also learned that critical thinking is also an important aspect in academia.
This was explained as creative people have more creative thinking which helps in bringing the
fresh and unorthodox work. Students with critical thinking, will be able to develop timely
expansion on extensive working scenarios within further extensive targets diversely (Ebekozien
and et.al, 2022).
2 — Research
It is very important that the research is being done for the research proposal when undertaken.
With the help of power point presentation, I was able to understand information about the
research and the difference between paradigms, methods and methodologies. Research is the
process of collecting, analysing and interpreting the information which is in reference to some
useful topics and the questions. It was also identified that how the research can be useful which
was done by being relevant, specific, analytic and realistic. I had also learned and understood
that there are some major types of researches which were explanatory, descriptive, evaluative
and emancipatory (Fernandez-Perez and Martin-Rojas, 2022).
I had also learned that paradigm is the set of beliefs, guide and action taken for the inquiry
purpose. Also information was also gathered about the different types of paradigms. Further,
methodology in the research was being known as how the research can be conducted. Both
qualitative and quantitative research methodology was described.
3 — Pupil Book
Through the pupil book, I have learned that what is data analysis and what I have learned in that
which helped in denoting that what was the information which was being undertaken. Within
data analysis, mean, median and mode of range was calculated. The mean, median and mode are
three different ways of describing the average. I had learned that data analysis is done by
practically solving the mean, median and mode problems so that the calculations are being done
in most corrective manner by applying the formulas.
With the help of worked examples, I was able to seek the solution and how those
examples were solved was also known. Along with this, with the help of finding the means from
tables and tally charts was also learned by me. Calculation with mean was also learned by me

with the help of examples explained. Mean, median and mode for grouped data and cumulative
frequency was also learned and understood by me. Further, standard deviation was also
explained with the help of examples which I practised.
4 — Formality in Writing
In this pdf, I have learned that how the formality in the writing is being done. I had learned that
what comes under being less formal and more formal. I had learned the language ad the aspects
which were included in this are — using mostly the third person, when to use the active and
passive verbs. It also helped in knowing that not to use questions while using direct and indirect
verbs in the language. Usage is different types of sentences and linking the ideas was also
learned by me in this pdf. Usage of more nouns instead of sentences/verbs were also being
understood by me as how writing formally can be taken into consideration in both less and more
formal manner (Goss and et.al, 2022). The writing in formal manner professionally helps
students to be adhesive about extended professional benchmarks, and gain experience about new
keen scenarios needed in academic competencies.
5 — Skimming a School Prospectus
With the help of this pdf, I learned and understood that skimming the prospectus Portham
Village School prospectus was being skimmed. This helped in knowing that how the prospectus
was being skimmed which included the information and the details of the school such as absence
of the children, holidays, school uniform for both boys and girls which was included in the
prospectus was being known (Samson Fischea and Roche, 2022). Along with this, extra-
curricular activities of the school were mentioned and this helped me in understanding the
prospectus and how it was skimmed. The skimming was being done on the basis of questions
which were to be answered. These questions aimed at answering the questions with respect to the

considered at large scale. There were various types of questions which were to be answered
