1TASK 2IntroductionThe following discussion is about the various legislations that surround and protect theindependent living. The government must be ensuring the safety of the people who are aged butare forced to live an independent life in the care settings. The care settings have to be managedproperly by the owners and they have to input all the necessary things that are elemental for asafe living of the aged people. In this assignment, all these things will be discussed along withthe impact of technology on the care settings. The devices with the best possible support systemswould have to be used there. The government should also bring in some strict acts and laws thatwill help the aged people in the care settings to live a better life indeed. The owners of the caresettings should maintain all the ethics in treating the aged people suffering from dementia. 2.1 Health and Safety legislationBritish Government has dictated various legislations to secure the health and safety oftheir citizens. Hence, healthcare providers need to consider the mentioned procedures in thelegislations while they carry out their activities related to the serviced being provided to thepatients. The act that is required for addressing the housing complex issue is the Health andSafety at Work Act that was passed by the British Government in the year 19741. This isconsidered as one of the most important in the healthcare industry as it mentions the duties andresponsibilities of the healthcare providers and forms the basis of the framework. The actcontains four primary parts that are:Part 1 – This part of the act dictates the procedure of ensuring the health, Safety and Welfare. It is important for the manager to educate the peopleliving in the complex regarding the health and safety procedures that are to be considered toensure her health and safety. 3TASK 2The first and foremost consideration in the educational session is to deliver theknowledge of assistive technology. These technologies are considered as the equipmentsthat the old aged population need to use for ensuring their safety and well-being. Theinformation related to the importance and function of the technologies needs tocommunicate. These equipments vary over a wide range starting from a simple alarmclock to high technology medical equipment. Hence, the manger of the complex isresponsible to teach the residents how to use the equipments.The next information that needs to be delivered to the people is the guideline of thehealth and safety act that communicates the responsibilities of the patients. They must becommunicated the procedure needs to be followed during an emergency.The residents are also needed to be communicated about the appliances in the shelterhousing to avoid unwanted accidents. For example, they need to be communicated aboutthe precautions required in the use of gas or electrical appliances. The residents should also be communicated about the procedure needs to be followedduring any accidental situation. The other roles of the manager involve the following:The manager needs to identify the risks for the sheltered housing.Analyze the findings of the risk assessment report.Consider the actions required to eliminate the possible risks.Ensure regular maintenance required for the equipments used.The manager is responsible for insuring the safety of the electrical devices used inthe sheltered housing.
