INTRODUCTION
Supporting significant life events assignment report is for the individuals who are dealing
with several diseases. In this particular case, the study of a person whose name is Jacqui will be
discussed. Also, this report will cover topics like impacts of these diseases on his career,
workplace, and family members (Swartz and et. al. 2015). What he is going through, and the
symptoms he is facing will be elaborated. It will also include how organisational policies support
individuals who are facing these significant life events. How the organisation where Jacquie
works can support him regarding the disease, and the role of health care organisations to treat
this patient will be discussed.
Task 1
1.1 impacts of significant life events on individuals
Jacqui who is the patient in this case, may have faced some emotional issues by loosing
someone in past or had some bad experience in the past. He is portrayed in this case as
bereavement. After that no so good experiences now, he is diagnosed with Alzheimer's. It is the
situation called facing significant life events. This results in mood swings, changes in behaviour
and not remembering things. These diseases can completely disturb daily life routine of the
individuals. They find it difficult in doing their work properly (Yan and Sui, 2014). Furthermore,
they can forget things frequently. Even the persons can feel sleepy in long working hours and
seems tensed, or less energetic than before. There are some serious impacts on individuals which
are given below:
Physical impacts: It leaves a huge physical impact on the body of people like Jacqui. They can
feel throb pains, stretched muscles etc. this kind of pains and less energy brings fatigue in body.
Bereavement: It can put a person in a roller-coaster ride of emotions. These Unconventional
emotions can change at anytime with changes in circumstances (Newman and Newman, 2017).
This is called as bereavement.
Social impacts: Bereavement leaves fewer impacts socially on a person. But still, by the above
impacts, it can be said that people who are facing such problems should be given more support
so that it cannot harm them socially in the future.
1.2 Possible group responses
Individuals who are suffering from bereavement may receive various responses from
group of persons such as friends, family and other loved ones. The society also gives responses

to them. Possible responses that patients like Jacqui can receive from different groups are as
follows:
Sympathy: Many people encourages these persons to involve in various time consuming
activities which keeps them engaged throughout the day or at least for most of the time of day so
that they can forget what they are facing in life and will not be sad.
Social media: It is the platform to convey emotions regarding the person through which any
friend or family member can share their thoughts and provide support to needed one (American
Diabetes Association, 2015).
Various websites are also available on net to give moral and emotional support to such
persons. In such a group all grown ups and children are available.
At workplace: However, people with significant life events can get responses in the form of
support and sympathy by family and friends. On the other hand, the people on workplace
especially the employer and other senior may give them the ultimatum or warning because their
work is hampering due to mental illness of persons like Jacqui as it is affecting their organisation
negatively.
1.3 Impact for others in health and social care
People who are involved in such cases of bereavement which is resulted in Alzheimer's
and insomnia for Jacqui are, nurses, other health workers and counsellors. These persons belong
to care homes and because these significant life events, their work is hampered. It is because in
Alzheimer's a person may completely forget what he was doing and why. People can also loss
their memory and cannot feel what is real and important for that moment. This made very
difficult for Jacquie to look after his teenage daughter (Zimbardo and Boyd, 2015). For the ones
who are giving medical treatment to Jacquie, may find it difficult to treat him in proper manner
as he has a problem of forgetting and misplacing things. He may not remember whether he is
taking the prescription regularly or not. These people can forget the time to take medicines
which may very disturbing to the people who are in health and social care and can affected
negatively for treating them.

CONCLUSION
This report was prepared especially on the support system of health care organisations
which provide support and medical treatment to people such as Jacqui in various aspects. Such
people deal very serious illness and they need some extra care from not only medical
professionals but also from their family (Billett, 2016). In the case of Jacqui, his support was his
teenage daughter who made every possible thing to recover her father from this life changing
disease. However, this is also described how these organisations can improve further to give
proper medication and support to these people.
