INTRODUCTIONLife events play a crucial role in every individual’s life because life in uncertain and thereare several kinds of uncertain risk, hazard etc. It is very important for the human beings to enjoyevery moment in their life. Significant life event refers to major changes in person'scircumstances that influence their whole life. Life events is normative event which can bedefined as unexpected. Significant life events leave lifetime impact on an individual’s life. Thepresent report provides the knowledge about significance of life events and its impact uponindividuals as well as on their family member.1.1 Explanation about the implication of significant life events on individualIn every individual there are some significant life events which provides experiences tothe individual regarding their lite. By this event every one can learn something new. Significantlife event always put a negative as well as positive impact on an individual’s life. As per thegiven case scenario, Rita has died in her sleep due to breast cancer. As cancer is unpredictablehealth issue which can occurred in anyone in their life and it is very serious problem (Billingsleyand Lang, 2002). While any individual occurs this health issue then they have to take propertreatment. A cancer patient is different as compare to all other people. A cancer patient alwaysfeels uncomfortable and uncertain all the time in their life because cancer is that health problemunder which patient can die any time. Due to this issue of Rita, she was always feeling fear intheir life because she has breast cancer. (Andrews, Reddy and Whelan, 2011). As Rita and Sue was good friends with other eight residential but after acknowledged thatshe has breast cancer her behaviour is completely changed. After acknowledged that Rita havebreast cancer, she has got depression and stress as she loosed her appetite through which resultsin loosing of health. As per the case, it has been also found that after knowing that Rita hasbreast cancer, she occupied with several physical changes as it affected her mentally as well asphysically. As there are several side effects of the cancer treatment such as risk of infection,nausea, vomiting, etc. Due to these all risk, Rita have refused to take treatment of cancer. Thus,from this case it has been found that there are several impacts of significant of life events.As per this case it has been ascertained that life event is uncertain as everyone haveuncertainty to face something new in their life either that will good or bad. While any eventoccurred in every individual then their behaviour can completely change as previous (Entwistle1

and Quick, 2006). It has been analysed that every individual should enjoy their life until theuncertain situation not occurred in their life. Everyone should enjoy their life events in suchmanner that they cannot influence by the negative moments in their life.Rite is old and enjoyed living at resident care home because at home she used to feelalone and it cares centre she had good interaction with residents especially with Sue who was 40year old. Isolation is the situation which impact human mind and thinking due to which theperson is unable cope up with loneliness. However, in residential care home she startedinteracting with people and involving in outdoor activities in communal garde. Engagement ofRita with residents denotes her participation in social activity. Further, willingness to stay fit byinvolving in outdoor activities reflects behavioural changes of Rita in care home.1.2 Analysis of the possible group responses to significant life events that occurs to one of itsmembersAs per the above discussion on the significance of life events, it has been found thatindividual who is suffering from the cancer has a huge impact of life event. Rita has facedseveral situations and there is a direct impact of significance of life event. Apart from that, it hasalso been found that not only individuals affected by the life event but also affected people whoare around that particular person. The family members and friends are equally affected thesignificant life event of the individual (Acton, 2013). While other friends and carers in the smallsheltered housing project acknowledged that Rita has breast cancer, then they all started to giveher support. They all have started to provide mental as well as financial support. They developedstronger relationship with Rita and connected with them all the time in this duration (Adams,2007). However, it has also been found that there are also some members who are influenced in anegative manner as they tried to run from the patient. In addition to this, some member thoughtsthat this is very burdened situation for them so they break the relationship with patients.Significant events of life like death of Rita created huge impact on residents because everyperson was engaged with in outdoor and social activities. However, as per the situation it isimportant for care home service providers to govern activities of residents. Governance willensure safe and security of environment. However, on the other hand it is important for theorganisation to involve Sue and other 8 resident in social and playful activities in order to distracttheir mind.2
