Introduction and description of the
company
Walmart is an American multinational retail
chain corporation.
It operates a chain of grocery stores,
hypermarkets, discount departmental stores,
Sam’s club retail warehouses.
They have about 11348 stores in 27 countries
and 55 different names. It is operating in
countries like USA, Canada, UK, Brazil, Japan,
India, Argentina etc (Muñoz, Kenny & Stecher,
2018).
They have generated a revenue of $ 514.419
billion in 2019.
Their supplier chains is based globally and use
the latest technology to monitor the supply of
goods.

Analysis of their strategic niche and
Brief history of its foundation
Walmart has become the household name in many countries as they
offer a huge variety of products under the same roof.
The discount policy and cheap stores are the main cause of
attraction.
It’s highly efficient supply chain gives them competitive advantage
over others.
Sam Walton is the founder of the world’s largest retail chain Walmart.
Ben Franklin was the first store he bought. The next store he bought
was Eagle departmental store.
The first Walmart store was opened in 2nd July 1962 (Muñoz, Kenny &
Stecher, 2018).
With consistency and customer support it grew to 800 stores in 1985.
