INTRODUCTION
Business sustainability can be defined as the process and approach of company by which
activities are being performed in a manner that does not have negative impacts on society,
economy and environment. This present study is based on hospitality sector as it is a broad
category of fields within service industry. Evaluation on the issues which are being faced by the
hospitality industry is being done within the report and with that analysis on the significance of
the contribution of the hospitality industry is also being done within the report. With that study
on the impact of the issues which are being faced by the hospitality industry upon their
profitability is also being done in the report.
Contribution of hospitality industry
Hospitality industry is one of the growing sectors of the world and this sector is contributing the
most in the economic and development of the entire country (Goryushkina and et.al 2019). Apart
from this it is also found that hospitality sector has generated more Employment opportunity for
people and especially for young age people who have recently completed their education. On the
other hand, it is also found that hospitality industry is having numbers of negative impacts or
increasing different issues such as environmental (increasing waste), social and economic.
Sometimes hotel has to suffer from these issues in the profitability but most of the time
hospitality industry is the one who is impacting these issues. Hospitality industry is contributing
to each of these issues which are mentioned below.
Environmental issue
Hospitality industry is contributing in the economy and making the economy stable of the
country but hospitality industry is also contributing and putting negative impact on the
environment by increasing pollution damage to the biodiversity. For example: in hotels,
customers make use of water, electricity and other resources to the great extent. Food wastage is
other main example that is having negative impact on environment. Hotels increases waste by
dumping solid waste into soil. In order to provide more and better services to their customers this
industry is damaging the environment by creating more and more hotels in natural areas and
especially by cutting trees and damaging the biodiversity just for the sake of their profit and
providing better services to the customers. Apart from this, hospitality is the industry which is
using energy and water the most. This is the industry which has more energy consumption as
compared to other industries because in each room, they have to provide proper facility, proper
