INTRODUCTION
Business sustainability is management and coordination of business resources which
ensures social and financial success of a business. Sustainability is defined as saving resources
for the future generation without compromising with the needs of present generation. Businesses
are a important part because most of the resources are utilized by the businesses. So it is
important for businesses to utilize resources at the fullest level so that they can be available to
the future generation. There are various advantages of business sustainability which have been
discussed in this report which helps a business to grow (Budihardjo, 2020). Further
organizational capabilities have been discussed which helps a business in gaining success in
changing environments.

Advantages of business sustainability in growth.
Business sustainability is the management of resources so that they can be available for a
longer period of time. Businesses need to be aware about the environment and society to create a
sustainable growth in their business. It helps in creating goals which focuses on financial and
environmental sustainability of business. The various advantages of business sustainability are-
 Increase productivity- Developing business sustainability allows a business to increase
productivity. The overall aim of business is to maintain a long- term sustainable growth,
they can use eco-friendly products which reduces the wastage of resources. The company
is able to recycle its waste thus reducing costs to buy new raw materials. TESCO is also
aiming at recycle its used sachets and plastics. It is helping the business in cutting the
cost ans longer sustainability in the environment.
 Increase employee retention- Employees are also aware about the fact that businesses
need to work for the environmental and social programs. If a company is continuously
practising sustainable techniques, it can retain its employees. As healthy environment
attract talented employees and helps in retaining old employees. Higher retention means
less time spend on recruiting, thus the cost for hiring employees will reduce.
 Improves brand image- Business sustainability improves brand image as the customers
and society are aware about the scarcity of resources. Thus utilizing resources in a proper

manner is important for businesses. Businesses can provide their customers with better
pricing policies and discounts, this will help business to retain their customers. TESCO is
a multinational company and is using zero waste technique to tackle with the plastic
wastes. This helps in attracting customer attention, and environmental conscious
customers takes initiative to buy from the TESCO stores.

Organizational capabilities can be named as assets which an organization possesses to get
work done and satisfy its customers. The successful organizations have different combinations of
skills and capabilities which make them better from their competitors (Fhang and Tong, 2018).
Organizational capabilities consider advanced technology, talent, human resource, which allows
an organization to do the operations successfully. The capabilities helps a business to set up
organizational goals and objectives which helps business to grow. Also the capabilities permit a
business to accommodate in dynamic environments, and creating a great organizational culture.
Organizational capabilities which help a business in changing environment are-
 Innovation- Building innovative products helps a business to adapt to the changing
preferences of customers. Innovative products helps a business to build new customer
base in a short period of time. A business should be focussed on the future, and rely on
past for their business operations, thus innovating new products and services allows a
business to build an exciting atmosphere over new concepts and services. Similarly
TESCO also aims at building innovation by strategically organizing its employees to
bring innovative ideas. The company has also partnered with Manna to provide drone
delivery to customers of grocery items. This technology will reduce the time of deliveries
and provide better customer service quality.
 Leadership- The leadership capabilities provide inspiration and direction to the
managers and employees to achieve organizational goals and objectives. It is the ability
through which an individual can inspire and engage employees and individuals to work
for a goal or an objective (Mohapatra and Sahu, 2018). Leaders have a critical role in
influencing employees to maximize their performance, which increases long-term profits
of a business. It is an essential function as it allows the leaders to motivate employees and

enhance their efficiency. The managers at Sainsbury follow autocratic leadership style to
succeed in their daily operations and activities.
 Collaboration- It is the ability of individuals to work together in a team to achieve a
common goal. Collaboration in organizational premises permit team leaders to assign
complex tasks to a group of people, so that the tasks can be accomplished effectively and
efficiently (Rowledge, 2019). It improves problem-solving and allows employees to
learn from each other. Collaboration increases organization potential and can lead to
more efficient operations, innovation, and better communication skills. Marks and
Spencers uses internal social media network which brings all the workers together. The
workers at Marks and Spencers are highly motivated and work in a team to achieve their
personal goals as well as organizational goals.
 Creativity- Creative thinking helps employees to upgrade their ideas and thoughts.
Creativity helps managers to overcome challenges and adapt to the changing working
environments. Creative thinking helps employees to think out of the box and give unique
ideas and solutions which can lead to new ways to accomplish tasks. Creativity provides
more opportunities for businesses, as new innovative products will attract more
customers which will help in bringing long- term profits to the enterprise.

CONCLUSION
From this report it is concluded that business sustainability is important for the future
generation and for business growth. Businesses can earn more profits and reduce their operation
costs by fully utilizing their resources and opportunities. A business can start recycling its waste
to develop a good brand image and reputation in front of customers. Also the businesses can
offer work at remote areas, this will help generate the employment at remote areas and increase
business sustainability. Businesses should take care of their surroundings and environment , they
can help plant trees and eliminate the use of chemicals. Organizations have various capabilities
which provides them opportunities over other competitors. Organizational capabilities helps in
changing business environment, by changing in leadership styles and innovating new products.
Thus both sustainability and capabilities are a important part of an organization in changing
environment.
