It includes a case study of Bio-bean, a leading manufacturer of fuel products, and their use of waste material to reduce costs and waste. INTRODUCTION
Business is the separate legal entity that is formed for establishing in successful business
organisation with the main aim of generating huge profits and revenue in the large market. The
ability to fulfil present needs for the natural resources without major compromises on the
requirement of the future generation is known as sustainability(Isac, 2019). Now a day business
organisation are involved in combining the innovation with the effective sustainability that is the
vital for the company in order to survive in the competitive era. Currently, there are certain
number of organisation which are involves in the various kind of businesses. Out of which, one
world's largest British firm of Coffee is Bio-bean. They are coffee grounds recyclers. They
involve in producing Friendlily fuel from the available waste of coffee. It is analysed that the
producer of coffee waste everyday by consuming 98 million cup of coffee everyday. This is the
private company which is founded by Arthur Key and Benjamin Harriman.

Advantages of sustainable organisation
 Competitive advantage: Competition is increasing day by day which the availability of
the substitute products and increase in the competition. When the company gain the
competitive edges, there must be some uniqueness in the given products by which they
can attract the large group of customer. By offering sustainable products, organisation is
getting competitive advantages. Bio-bean is the leading manufacturer of the fuel product
and supplies the power to the buses in London.
 Reduces cost: Main aim of producing the sustainable products is to minimise the waste
material for them. It can be said that the waste for the normal people act as a raw material
for the sustainable organisation. Thus, the cost that occurred in purchasing the raw
material is cut off. A part from this the waste raw material can be easily available by
which no delays can be occur. The same strategy is being accessed by Bio-bean, the
money is saved from the raw material for buying machines (Escrig-Tena, Segarra-Cipres
and Garcia-Juan, 2021).
 Reduces waste: Aim of producing the sustainable products is to minimise the waste and
the commodities is being manufactured from the waste material and then collected and
used for offering another finished goods. Although recycling the commodities is the most

effective way to minimise the waste. Bio-bean used the waste material and use that by
recycling it.
Disadvantages of sustainable organisation
 Time taking: In order to start a sustainable business, a lot of time is needed for the
smooth functioning of company and employees. Waste such as biodegradable and non-
biodegradable are to separated then the process of production takes place.
 Higher initial investment: Technology and techniques are used for manufacturing
products which are new and not easily available. Thus, the machines needs to be
modified according to the requirement of the company. With the results, rise in the initial
cost and the difficulty in establishment of the company (Ciconkov, 2018).
 Complex model: the main aim of every business venture is to generate higher
profitability and maintain the profits in the sustainable business in long run. As customers
are more attracted with the innovative products and continuous innovation create
difficulty in sustainable business.
Types of innovation
The innovation which is used for sustainable business are of 4 type in which low market
ideas is implemented easily, where as high market ideas are tough to used and they are costly.
 Architectural innovation: It is the type of innovation in which the company used the
technology which they are using before as well but they operate it in new market.
Raspberry PI foundation has launched a machine that can be plugged in TV & children
can learn new program through it.
 Radical innovation: It is the innovation in which the company use the new technology in
new marketplace. They made the huge change in its technology and design so that they
can offer the innovative products. Mind Candy has introduced the new online platform in
which kid can use the virtual or online pet and they can adopt them. The technology used
the online space.
 Incremental innovation: The technology and market or environment used by an
organisation is the existing one in reference to the incremental innovation. The
contentious improvement are tends to be made in the existing goods(Buffa, Franch and
Rizio, 2018). For example, Spotify is using new feature that the customers can have the
paid as-fee use. They are having approx 26 million active users out of which 6 million

have the paid access with them. Marks and Spencer is using the sustainable approach and
warehouse ad work place into carbon.
 Disruptive innovation: The quarter in the new technology and the existing market is
having the disruptive innovation. They are effectively using the resources. This plays the
significant role in comparison to the other innovation. Tesco influence 43% of the buyer
to use the online mode for shopping and getting their commodities at their home. As per
the given announcement Tesco is planning to pair-up with the Amazon-Go for cashier
less billing by which they can reduce the long queues.
Importance of sustainable business
 Encourages green community: A sustainable business is known as by its name and
includes in recycling the products means that they are contributing in protecting the
environment and encouraging the green business to be established within a shorter period
of time. With the help of recycling, Bio-bean is able to maintain the sustainable in the
environment(Bonesso, Gerli, Pizzi and Boyatzis, 2020). When the business are
generating the good sum of revenue for the given business and they are promoting the
investors to invest more and the other business persons to engage in this prospective
business.
 Increases opportunities: The given opportunities is related to the investment and
finance which are tends to rise but when the company get more revenue from the
businesses and ensures the higher profitability then the investors get influenced to invest
more in the given business and they can easily expand their business. A lot investors are
ready to give huge amount of investment in the Bio-bean after seeing the successful start.
 Increases productivity: The raw material which is used in manufacturing the products
which are sustainable and are waste which is related to the overall growth of the
business. From this, organisation can saves a lot of money and use that money for buying
the new machines. Bio-beans is collecting the coffee ground from different places and
save money.
 Employment opportunities: The sustainable business is the type of business that needed
a more human resources and effectors then the machine so the ample of employment
opportunities is generated in this business. Other than this, they are using the major
consideration which is related to the employment opportunities tat leads to have the fair

pay in comparison to the generates a sufficient amount of money by which the retention
rates will leads to increase in the business.
 Saves environment: with the collection of waste and start manufacturing products from
the in-spite of throwing it ear and there is the best possible way to save the environment.
By putting the efforts in conservation of environment the government bodies give the
subsidiaries and the related benefits to an organisation(Barrutia and Echebarria, 2019).
This encourages the individual to make more investment in such business or take
initiative in establishing the business.

Reflection
Gibbs' reflective cycle and learning
 Description: In this, I have planned to divide the work into various sections so that the
given task can be completed in an effective manner within a set time frame. I had
accomplished my work before the deadline by which I can get the enough time to check
that everything is correct or not. Then I have decided to rewrite them.
 Feelings: When I start preparing, it feel like boring as I was thinking that what could
someone can do with the waste things but with the reading about the innovation used by
the various firms. I get motivated. Bio-bean was making the powder from the waste
material of coffee grounds.
 Evaluation: After feeling, I evaluate the entire process with the help f proper guidance
from the teacher I completed my work before the deadline. Initially it was boring but
when I got aware about the given work with the help of research I worked in the proper
manner and after analysing some significant facts will fell life why did not I read about
the topic earlier. This was an amazing experience.
 Analysis: The main reason why my work go well was the decision making for diving the
given work in small section. This gave me a clear understanding that what I need to do ad
what must be included or to be excluded from the topic. With the better understanding
from the given topic, most emerging topic that is the sustainable businesses. Bio-bean is
making the best use of waste material to produce the coffee power. Converting the waste

which is going in dustbin, this is amazing. All this helps me in enhancing the knowledge
about the given subject.
 Conclusion: with the help of theoretical project, when the project was based on practical
then it will help in giving the real time exposure. While visiting at the place and knowing
the things and the given process. Although theoretical think also helps me in analysing
the most appropriate decisions as I was not aware about certain points. Bio-beans is only
supplying the powder for the buses of London, if they are merging with the other
companies and they try to expand then this would provide them a ample for the profits.
 Action plan: Next time I would make the perception that the given topic helps me with
the various use as by doing so this time. I have wastes my lot of time. In this workload, I
can visit the industry and get the information related to the things personally. This leads
to enhance my knowledge and would save my time. Initially, I will read about the
industry and projects then will gather the information and make the proper notes. After
this I will continue with the my project with my projects which will give me a effective
solution of my problem and helps me in completing my file smoothly.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it is concluded that the with the help of sustainable business
company environment can be effectively protected and saved which leads to have more revenue
with less investment. With the sustainable business helps in getting competitive benefits, leads to
minimise the cost and waste. This also promotes the investors to invest more in such type of
businesses. Even the other person is interested in the business. But with the initial cost is high
due t the introduction of innovation shows effect of using new and existing technology in new as
well as in the old market. Innovation keeps on making the new products and modifying the
products for the long term business. Lastly, adopting the sustainable lifestyle will helps in having
the healthy life.
