Sustainability in tourism basically involves social
responsibility, a strong commitment to nature and an
integration of local people in any tourist operations.
Therefore, it is the general concept that attempts to
make a low impact on environment and some local
culture that helps to generate the income and
employment (Sustainable tourism development, 2018).

There are many factors that push the tourism industry towards a sustainable
development approach such as:

growing the awareness of cost saving from sensible resources consumption.

essential for a competitive product (Swarbrooke, 2019).
On the other side, there are some other that hinder sustainability of tourism
development such as, recession may also hinder the sustainable tourism in
negative way and this also affect the business of factor travel industry in Qatar as
well.
In addition to this, sustainable tourism development mainly
meets the needs of present tourist, host regions in order to
protect and enhance the opportunities for the future. Further
it is also based upon the four principles, such as :
Holistic planning and strategy making
preservation of essential ecological process
protection of heritage ad biodiversity
Development that make sure that productivity can
be sustained for a long term for the future
generations.
3.3 Analyze different stages in planning for sustainability
with reference Qatar
There are different steps of planning which are as
mentioned below:
Project design: It is the first stage in which project for
Qatar is design as per analysing the situation.
Scope Issue and formulate goals and objectives: It is
the second stage where aims and objectives are formulated
and if there is any issue then try to solve these.
Survey/ Develop and screen indicators: Through survey,
Qatar can easily analysis the demand of public and then
make strategies and even by using screen indicators such
as poverty, governance, health care, it can also formulate
the strategy as well to overcome this.
As the global economic crisis slows down the international travel, thus it also
creates impact upon sustainability of tourism industry and development as well.
Apart from this, supply and demand also influence the sustainable tourism
development that includes the seasonality and its implication on the level of
planning needed for the maintenance of resources. Another factor that also affect
the sustainability of tourism is growing population. Further, vacation packages in
Qatar can also accelerates the destruction process by the help of tour companies,
airlines and other travel providers by offering special rates in order to encourage
Analysis and Synthesis: It is the next stage in which the strategy is analysis and
synthesis, or the plan is taken for enhancing the understanding of sustainable development
issues both within and between the interest group.
Plan Action Formulation: It is the next stage, where action plan is formed such as
National Strategies, plans and policies are playing the crucial role in order to achieve the
sustainable tourism goals. These plans help to overcome the issue which Qatar faces.
Implementation action plan: in this stage, the plans are implemented and even it shows
the result whether it helps to mitigate the issues and provide accurate results or it does not
help to solves issues.
Review and Improving the monitoring system: in the last stage, the plan is reviewed at
regular basis such that though proper monitoring system, the level of accuracy can be
checked. If there is any issues then the plan is further executed with proper aims and
objectives.
