SWOT Analysis and Operational Impact Analysis_2

PORTFOLIO PAPER-2
SWOT analysis
SWOT is a self-analysation technique by which a company identify its own Strength,
Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. This technique helps an organisation to take decisions
which would help it to grow (Blythe and Martin, 2019).
SWOT analysis of TESCO
Strength
TESCO is one of the largest
supermarket and retailer in the world. It
is no. 1 in UK with many competitors
who always try to emulate it.
It is a private label which gives
products to customers at cheap rates
which are similar in quality with that of
brands which are famous and quote
high prices.
It has introduced new method of
payments to enhance customer services
like: Pay+, PayQwig, etc., to minimise
the contact and give its customers quick
and easy way to make payments.
Weaknesses
Competition in the market has lead into
the price war which have majorly
affected the profit margin of the
retailers.
TESCO owns many other types of
services other that supermarket or retail
stores which are not generating much
profit and hence it should divest all the
extra businesses in which there is no
profit.
TESCO was fined by the Fraud office
in UK in 2014 for overrating its profit.
This whole incident has impacted the
company very negatively and has also
harmed its reputation in the market
(Clark, Fine and Scheuer, 2017).
Opportunities
TESCO should aim at increasing its
sales online. Currently they have only
groceries that are being delivered to its
customers online. Increasing the variety
and choices of the product would
increase the customer base and help it
Threats
TESCO have competitors who are
selling their products at very less price
and giving discounts to the customers
which are affecting the sales of the
company.
There are many work opportunities
