2 SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND DESIGN1. IntroductionThe Commonwealth Government of Australia is launching ‘My Health Record’ systemthat is expected to provide a digital summary of the patient’s health record. The project aims atreplacing the traditional system of managing and accessing the health records, both by thepatients and the physician. A system to be built should be secured enough so that it prevents anyunauthorized access to the information stored in the system. The vision document for the projectevaluates the problem, capabilities and benefits of the new health record system (Jamoom et al.,2013). 2. Problem The problem that is observed with the manual record keeping system is that there is ahigh chances of misplace of the records or its damage. Furthermore, it often becomes difficult forpatients to remember their past medication details often resulting in giving out very less orimproper information to the physician. This is one of the most significant problems associatedwith the manual record keeping system (DesRoches et al., 2013). The manual record keepingsystem for storing the health information of the patient takes up a lot of physical storage spaceand the management of the records becomes complex as well. It is not always possible for aphysician to have a complete view of all the patients’ records as it is a time consuming worksand involves a lot of paper work (Tom et al., 2012). Therefore, it is more preferable to have anelectronic record keeping system as it will make the process of information fetching easier andwill further increase the efficiency of the system. The new system is expected to reduce the rateof hospital admission and improving the patient care quality. The My Health Record system that
