Summary
This report discusses about the importance of multidisciplinary teams in providing care to the
patients with special needs. A multidisciplinary approach in the health care setting is one of
the key requirements while providing care to a patients with special needs. . In a
multidisciplinary approach of patient care, all the members of the team are associated to take
any steps regarding the health condition of the patient. The team working skills are very
crucial when providing a multidisciplinary care to a patients with special needs and all the
members of the multidisciplinary team should work together in order to achieve a common
goal. In a multidisciplinary team, all of the members should have their specific roles in terms
of their strengths and weakness. This report also discusses about the two types of leadership
model that can be followed by the leader of the multidisciplinary team and those models are
transformational leadership model and capability model. The importance of communication
and team work are also discussed in this report. Lastly, a few recommendation such as use of
family centred approach, use of different leadership model are recommended.
