Solar Power System - Design, Specifications and Improvements

This presentation discusses the design, specifications, and improvements of a solar power system capable of generating 2kW power with 12A AC and 240 VAC. It also recommends the use of UPS and High Voltage Power guard for security and suggests improvements like a backup generator and automatic switch over.

It was actually made possible through the group members
who worked for hand in hand with each other to ensure that
the project works and meet the specifications.
This is actually what is known as the teamwork. With all the
efforts of every team member, it was possible to meet the
specification of the power of 2kW having 12A AC and 240
VAC generated from the solar panel and perfectly connected
to the Flat studio(Andren, 2013).

 Every team member worked in a collaboration with a consistency
consultation which made them deliver the outcome with the specifications
as stated above.
 The system is actually designed with specifications of generating a
maximum voltage 240V and a current of 12 A, this implies that the system
will generate a power of 2kW.

The amount of power supplied is good enough to supply power to the
Flat Studio. This is when just one solar panel and one battery is
employed (during the months when there are long sunlight hours).
 But during the months when there are fewer sunlight hours more than
the solar panel and more battery is employed in the generation of
electrical power (Associates, 2014).

 These specifications are given to work maximally at room
temperature.
 And when the temperature is higher or lower than this
temperature then the maximum power would not be produced.
 With me as the project coordinator, we ensured that every
mistake and risk was fully eliminated before it was propagated to
the next stage which would make an enormous error.

 During the design, insured that there was no
compromise on the materials used in the
development just to save on cost.
 The wires employed during the installation were
standard having the required sizes, the fuses use
also were very standard.
 And with the correct parameters required for the
development, the design is capable to stay much
longer while operating (Athienitis, 2013.).

 For the security of the appliances used in the Flat Studio, it is
recommended to us Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS)
where the power is connected to before it goes to any load in
the Flat Studio room.
 But apart from using the UPS one might opt to use the High
Voltage Power guard.

 And this is also connected before any load (that is to say) every load
must draw its current after this device.
 And for future development, it is highly recommended to build a
powerhouse where every component apart from the solar panel and
the Mounting Array Rack is housed (Bainbridge, 2011).

 This room should be highly secured and this will help to reduce and form of
the accident as well as protecting the devices from vandalizers which may
occur to the power components.
 There are some improvements which need to be added to the design as well

 Such include the use of a backup generator which will kick on itself
when there is no solar and there is no power stored in the solar battery.
 This can occur during some days when the sky is very cloudy.

And in such seasons, power is required to help heat the
room due to coldness (low temperature) (Balcomb,2013).
Another improvement which can be done in the design is to
have one bigger solar panel as opposed to having two
relatively smaller panels which are connected in series.

This is because there is power loss due to the resistance of the
wires used to connect the panels in series (Boxwell,2014).
When a large surface area solar panel is employed the resistance is
highly reduced.
The powerhouse is also set aside which hep to prevent any risk of
accidents like electric shock.

 In the design, an improvement can be made in future design
which has an automatic switch over.
 This is where there is very low power from the solar which
cannot sustain the demand of the Flat studio then the
generator starts immediately to supply the required electrical
energy.
