Root cause of Terrorism in world
Terrorism is usually seen as a threat or violence with innocent people due to a political cause.
There is not universally agreed definition of terrorism which makes this type of act difficult to
quantify. In simple words, terrorism is a dangerous act performed by individuals with cruel
intentions to destroy the city, country or specific group of people. The historical terrorism has its
roots in the early resistance and political movements. The political groups for to target a category
initiated terrorism and created riots and traitors in the country. Further, talking about modern
terrorism, it is to note that political causes have be accelerated in the recent years that can be
seen as one of the root causes of terrorism in the world along with Indonesia. Indonesia has no
different circumstances to give rise to terrorism, but the Islamic ideologies countries are facing
subsequent increase in terrorist attacks (Roser, Nagdy, & Ritchie, 2018).
Post Second World War was the time when modern terrorism started budding. After this, many
illegal groups started mobilizing sympathy and support to other people. These groups started
mind washing people with the religion they should follow and how other people are harassing
the teachings of their god etc. Further, it should be noted that the root cause of terrorism is
money as well. As the leader belonging to groups like ISIS brainwash children, women and men
to participate their activities and perform certain acts for them and they will pay them for the rest
of their life. The attack of 9/11 should be marked as a turning point of the history as it was the
beginning of War on Terror. A biased decision of the community, political violence, boycotting a
section of section, religious hatred among extremists for other religions etc. are some of the root
causes Terrorism worldwide (Fenton, & Price, 2015).
State of Indonesia due to ISIS
Over the past 20 years, Indonesia has become world’s fourth most popular along with largest
Muslim majority nation. This has made the community to adopt democracy based on tolerance
and moderate interpretation of Islam. Due to increasing number of radical Islam extremists in the
country, people have started terrorizing from them which is increasing unpleasant activities in
the country. Influence of ISIS is strongly growing among the families of Indonesia due to which
they are willingly causing damage to the innocent Christian people along with the police. ISIS
has formed suicidal squads with women and children as well due to which the country is facing a

constant threat of loss of innocent lives (Galamas, 2015). Lack in efficient governmental control
also paced the terrorist activities of Jihadis in the country. The local government and social
religious organization present in the country have started getting distracted to the negatively
motivating speech of ISIS due to which they are insisting families to perform suicide bombing
against the other religions and the police as well. The fact should be noted that Indonesia has the
resources and capabilities to grow in the global competitive index but high degree of terrorism
activities in the country is affecting its overall productivity (Chaliand, & Blin, 2016).
Factors due to which ISIS Increased its Ideologies in Indonesia
There are various reasons due to which ISIS has increased teaching its Islamic ideologies in
Indonesia. Some of the factors are discussed below:
 Easy to Prey: The people of the country Indonesia are easy to prey due to which ISIS has
formed its hub in the country so that they can treat people and give them orders by
keeping them intact. Indonesia is diversified country where the population of Islamic
preachers is increasing because of the strong and impactful influence of the ISIS leaders
and caliphates on them. This is acting as a serious threat for the country as people are
getting more and more negatively influenced by them. Not only men but also women
along with their children have also started performing bombing in the country. Lack of
faithful and strong leader is making the people distracted on wrong path. There is a huge
difference between Islam religion and Jihadis but the extremist so strongly influenced by
the words of ISIS that they have agreed to die for them as well (Cronin, 2015).
 Availability of Resources: There is presence of resources and skills in the country due to
which the ISIS tribe is getting attracted towards the country. In case of Bali attack in the
year 2002, the ISIS planned and executed the bombing while staying in Indonesia that
means that the group is getting resources and skilled labor due to which they are growing.
ISIS is like algae, if people will feed them. They will group attack on other innocent
people and destroy the whole nation. Presence of large number of Islam believers makes
the country more attractive to the ISIS group (The Conversation, 2018).
 Differences in Opinion: The local government along with legal social group present in
the country has differences with the government that has been taken as an advantage by
the ISIS group. It can also be said that the caliphates are distracting the people from the

right path and are promoting the local extremist movements that can cause damage to
other people present in the community. Such difference in the counter-terrorist movement
can make these stakeholders to coopt radical ideology. Resulting in which threatening
calls are made on the part of the government to gather votes (Jones, 2018).
Thus, these are the factors that are enabling the terrorist activities of ISIS in the country
Indonesia.
Recommendation for Protection
Effective implementation of Counter-terrorism movement can save the future of the country. It is
important for the government to have a strong and motivational word with the people so that they
can get distracted from the negative thoughts of ISIS and move in the positive direction (Middle
East Institute, 2018). Also it is important for the police to make strict rules for the terrorist in
order to eliminate terrorism from the country.
