1.1 Background information of Tesco organization
Tesco organization was founded in 1924 by John Edward Cohen. The name Tesco came from
the initials of Cohen’s tea supplier named T.E Stockwell. He combined the first two letters of
Cohen. Cohen is the biggest retail revolutionary who has been responsible for several small
revolutions that have led to the current retail industry (Miner, 2015). Tesco organization is the
biggest retailer in the globe which operates around 2491 stores and employees more than more
three hundred and fifty thousand individuals. The profit of the organization exceeds three billion
pounds (Miner, 2015). United Kingdom is the organization largest market while presently they
have expanded their operations to other countries such as Thailand, US, and the central Europe
under the name ‘Fresh and Easy’ (Vasu, Stewart and Garson, 2017). In the UK the organization
operates under the four banners of Extra which are, Superstore, Metro, Express, one stop and
Homeplus. Tesco is a British merchandising retail chain. It is the largest UK retailer in the global
sales and the domestic market share and the third largest global retailer based on the revenues
and the second in terms of profit behind Wal-Mart (Miner, 2015). Over the years Tesco has been
able to expand into the market with wide variety of the retail and ventured to a wide range of the
services such as insurance, telecom, financial, petrol retail business and travel agency (Miner,
2015). In this research report, it focuses on Tesco organization which is one of the largest retailer
stores. The research would examine why the managers need to possess an understanding of the
organizational behavior and the impact role of individuals on managerial work using examples
from this organization. Additionally, it would describe challenges which Tesco Company
encounters in managing technologies in the context of change. This research would also identify
key strengths and weaknesses of how technologies could be utilized to benefit this organization
and the people. Other aspects which the report would address are on evaluation of the technology
