INTRODUCTION
Training and development is significant method that allow employees to learn various
skills that is essential for their own development for all the upcoming future projects. Further, the
present report is based on Tesco that uses various training methods to remain competitive in the
market and to enhance the productivity of the existing employees to large extent. Also, the study
will identify three methods of training that is currently used by the firm on certain groups of
employees and will also identify the strength and weakness of each of these methods in detail.
Lastly, certain recommendations for the improvement in these techniques will also be discussed
under this report.
MAIN BODY
In the current era training is very much required to ensure that employees are able to
deliver the best quality work with continuous hard work and efforts. Also, in the organization
like Tesco that is operating on large scale and have diverse workforce it is essential that proper
training methods are devised so that better teamwork ans skills might be developed to operate
successfully in the changing business environment (Al-sharafi, Hassan and Alam, 2018).
Moreover, in company like Tesco where new product line is added on regular intervals and
creativity is promoted it is essential that training is provided in groups so that employees are able
to enhance certain competencies that is required to carry out the new task and handle the latest
technologies in the best manner. Also, in Tesco most common training methods that are used by
the firm for group of Kinaesthetic learners are as follows:
Simulators: With the changing work environment and upcoming of various technologies
in the market it is essential that all the Tesco employees are well-known to the technologies that
are used at the workplace so that working becomes easier. Furthermore, in such type of training
actual work situations are been created so that trainees are able to solve certain issues that they
are likely to face during the jobs. Moreover, it gives ideas to the employees how certain things
are done in actual business environment (DULIN, 2019). Also, the major advantage of using this
type of technique is that knowledge retention is higher and last more longer. Furthermore, this
technique helps is gathering quick feedbacks which is beneficial for both the trainer and trainee.
However, the major disadvantage that is faced during such training sessions is that these are
quite expensive methods and also they require constant update and maintenance for the same.

Also, it is not possible under this technique to completely re create real life situations and hence
Tesco employees might not be able to gain complete benefit out of the training sessions.
Case studies: For kinaesthetic employees this training method was used as it helps in
developing certain analytical and problem solving skills. Also, under this method of training
employees are been provided with case studies and scenarios so that based on that certain
solutions are provided (Saeed and et.al., 2019). Further, through closely analysing answers to the
solutions the trainer is able to identify the critical thinking skills of any employee that is part of
the training session. Also, the solutions are also provided in form of groups that helps in
identifying how efficient the employees are and what are the areas of improvement. Moreover,
the major advantage of such case study is that it is quite inexpensive method and hence cost of
reviewing the employee data is minimal. Thus, this training method might be applied on regular
intervals without spending much on it. Even though it is inexpensive method but time to analyse
the data is much longer as enormous amount of data need to be analysed closely. Moreover, this
type of method is applicable to only the small sample size which is not possible in the firm like
Tesco where large number of employees need to be trained according to the given market
situations.
Role playing: In this training method employees are asked to act out different potential
work scenarios. Also, it is effective technique for Tesco as it is required in times that there is
proper customer client interaction so that difficult situations might be handled effectively.
Moreover, its major advantage is that it encourage alls the individuals to come together to find
the solution to the given scenario and hence it builds strong teams for the future. Also, it helps in
identifying the current skill level that is present within the individual so that competence level
might be identified (Tran and et.al., 2020). However major disadvantage of this technique is that
some employees might not take this activity seriously and hence this might impact the
productivity. Also, there are chances where some employee might resist in doing any kind of
role-play as it make them feel uncomfortable due to which this training method would be than
mere wastage of efforts by the Tesco. Furthermore, role-playing training method might not be
applied when Tesco have limited time-frame and certain goals need to be achieved in priority.
Thus, from the above all three training methods discussed for Tesco it can be said that
these are best fit method for group of kinaesthetic employees that understand things better with
the action but even though these might be improved to make things work in more effective

manner. Hence, in case of simulators it can be said that Tesco top management should in
advance set the learning objectives that are estimated to be derived from the simulators training.
Thus, on the basis of it the employees would be able to stay motivated and work harder for the
same. Furthermore, in context of case studies it is suggested that previous scenarios need to be
provided so that employees answers might be analysed in correct manner. Also, employees need
to be grouped in small teams so that the complex cases need to be solved in the future might be
analysed through the overall team efficiency. Also, Tesco the employees might be asked for the
visuals' representation that would be a better way to analyse how employees represent certain
words that have been told them in the case study.
Further, this would also improve the thinking power of the employees and would make
them more efficient. Lastly in role-playing certain recommendation for the improvement is that
Tesco need to ensure that trainers need to remain focused every time during the sessions so that
certain changes required might be pointed at the same time so that there later chances of errors
are minimum (Davis, 2019). Moreover, it is suggested to the firm that certain benchmarks are
good if they are established at the beginning of the role-play so that employees are able to
perform by following on that aspects and better outcomes are derived at the end of each role-play
sessions.
Thus through following these training and development methods Tesco would be able to
retain the top talent and increase the job satisfaction for the same. Moreover, through better
productivity the firm would be able to earn higher revenues for all its future projects and growth.
Also, training ensures that employees are able to compete in the market against some top
competitors and also able to develop solutions on their own without having much dependency on
others (Rahman and Bockarie, 2021). Moreover, with methods like role-playing and case studies
the individual is able to analyse how the situation actually existed and is also ready to take new
responsibilities in the future. Also, learning is also the part of trainings sessions that adapts them
to work in challenging situations like the current pandemic which force most of the employees to
work from remote areas.
Furthermore, Tesco with continuous training programs had been able to reduce the
overall employee turnover that have foster good working culture where all employees are ready
to participate in group decision-making and give their best output. Moreover, with the current
training initiatives taken by Tesco are useful not only for their personal growth of employees but

is also effective for their professional growth to identify the best future opportunities for the
growth. Also, for group of kinaesthetic learners in Tesco role-playing method is quite good as it
helps in developing the listening skills based on which the individual is able to act better in any
role-play (The 8 Best Types of Training Methods for Your Employees, 2022). Furthermore,
through case study training method employees would be able to conduct new researches and find
out alternative ways that might be adopted to gain better results on the similar past case study
scenario. Thus, it can be said that training sessions are conducted on the basis of the groups of
employees and also on objective the firm wishes to achieve in future.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that training is essence of every organization
that wants to achieve higher goals in the future. Also, the report had identified three methods of
training such as role-play, case studies and simulators that had been applied by Tesco on group
of kinaesthetic employees and has also identified the strength and weakness of each of this
method on the success of the firm in long run. Lastly, the study had also identified the
significance of training and development on the employees that have been in the firm to
accomplish certain personal goals and objectives.
