I would run for Texas State Senate. Due to advantages which the elective post-Senate
enjoys as compare to Texas House of Representative. In Texas State Senate election took place

after 6 years whereas House of representative election takes place after 2 years. I will select it on
the basis of time duration taken for the next election to happen.
Three sissues arise based on the demographic
The three areas I will be focusing on include education, employment and population. In
education, I will promote high school graduate to reduce the number of people with less than
high school graduate which is currently 18.4%. In respect of population characteristics, I will
focus on improving the number of people who can speak English very well from the current
223,906 or 28.5% to around 50%. The third area will be employment. Here, I will focus on
improving government sector employment which is currently representing only 7.8% to around
30%. This will help increase the employment in the district hence better living standards.
Where my ideas align with the party
The ideas of liberal attitudes on factors like the immigration, environment, and
homosexuality are the same with the Democratic Party. We both belief and trust in hard work
because it enables people to forge ahead. The idea of supportive of United State participation
abroad and contribution in international markets are also similar.
Where ideas diverge
The idea of the Disaffected Democrats that the organization makes abnormal profit and
the Party believes that economic system unethically favors controlling interests.
3). Separation of balances and power and checks in both practice and theory in Texas

The entire concepts are inter-related. Separation of power is where the powers of the state
are distributed to different branches. Take for example the tree metaphor. The roots of the tree
act as the base and this explain the major core element of power that provides the reason to its
existence. The roots which act as the base specify the power of the government. As the tree
continues to grow, the branches distributed out. Thus, the branches indicate the government
separation of power. The branches also represent various reflections and extensions of the
government’s base power. Every single branch is distinctive and signifies the overall spread of
power in the government (Johnson, Jennifer Lynn. Johnson and Jennifer Lynn 66)
A good example of separation of powers is the state that has executive, judicial and
legislative branches of the government. The legislative branch performs the duty of lawmaking
process. The executive branch help in enforcing the government’s laws, and the judicial branch
has a function of construction of laws and supervises the enforcement to make sure that they both
performs within the guidelines of the chapters of government power. Availability of the
government three branches provides practical explanation of powers separation within the
regime.
Balances and checks are same to a separation of powers. In the balances and checks
configuration, each part of the government is restricted by other three sections of the government
(Murphy, et al. 92). Balance and checks ensure that power is distributed equally among the
government’s branches.
4). Demonstrate knowledge of executive, legislative, and judicial branches
Legislative: Composed of the Senate and the House, regarded collectively as the
Congress. The legislative makes laws, regulate interest, declare war, and control taxing( Johnson,

Jennifer, and Lynn 86) Legislative branch include U.S Senate, Compliance office, printing office
of the government, Accounting Office of the government, AOC and CBO.
Executive: Composed of the president, agencies, various department, and his or her
advisors. The branches help in enforcing the law. The executive branch agencies and
organization include: USA Jobs, USAGov, Commission and federal agencies, office of the
president and Federal agencies
Judicial: Made up of Federal Judicial Centre and U.S Supreme Court. The power of the
U.S is found Supreme Court. Federal Judicial Centre is the research agency and education for the
court
5). Roles of interest group, political parties, and interest groups in Texas
Interest groups perform the following functions:
• Establish policy agenda
• Offer an environment for participation of political
• Enlighten and educate the population
• Offer different policy options to enables official elected to select from monitoring the
programs of the government to ensure that both are effective.
Political parties
The core functions of Political parties include:
• To connect elected official and Voters
• To counter government fragmentation
• Parties help in creating bond among branches and officeholders within the states

• Ensures accountability and transparency by assisting voters to understand what
different people stand for
• Articulating policy ideas of the opposing
Public opinion
Public opinion is important because the government is of the people. The entire people
consent to the government and individuals expect enough protection of rights.

8). Analyses issues, political culture, and policies of Texas
Issues facing Texas: divide political leadership and corruption. The political problem is
enhanced by the leadership vacuum while leadership vacuum is due to lack of strong
commitment to ethics.

There is also an issue of crisis in public education in Texas. This makes young
individuals to drop out of school.
Policies: These are the laws agreed upon by the legislature, the governor approved the
law, and then the executive implement the law and the court finally interpret it. Some policies
come from the ordinance enacted from the local government and the rules put in place by state
agencies. The main aim of the policies is to satisfy the public need of the people (Zahed,
Shahandashti and Najafi 72).
Political culture: Widely shared habits, attitudes, and general patterns of behavior that
grow gradually with time and influence the political life cycle of a state. The political culture is
of individualistic, traditionalistic sub-culture, and moralistic.
