The Accommodation Industry

Introduction
• Hotel is the place where the customer can receive various luxurious facilities
which includes accommodation, food, lodging, banquet hall etc. with the purpose
of maximizing customer’s satisfaction level.
• Hospitality industry hugely impacts the global economy in positive way in terms
of generating employment opportunities, tax payments etc.

The Hospitality Industry
• Hospitality industry is basically an industry which is responsible for providing
accommodations as well as primary food services in places like resorts, hotels,
conference centres and amusement parks.

offering customers with a place to reside on a temporary purpose. It is one of the

Different Types Of Accommodation Services
• Hotels- They are the cheapest accommodation available for the service users of
the sector. They generally provide shared rooms with different beddings.

• Guest-houses-It is a family run service which is provided to the service users of
the sector. It has excellent furnishing and try to make people feel like home. They
often come with shared facilities like kitchens and bathrooms

Different forms of ownership
There are four basic kinds of ownerships which are applicable to accommodation
services. They are discussed here.
• Privately owned: This sort of ownership provides freedom to the owner. The
owner of the hotel is responsible for making decisions of the staff along with
operational structure and growth. Example of private owned accommodation
services is guest houses

• Leased- They are a kind of private owners but the property belongs to
somebody else. They are on the basis of long term leases. The lessee is
responsible for managing all financial aspects of hotel. Example of leased
accommodation service is hotels.

• Franchises- The hotel get benefit from an identity brand name by service
users. Owner is dependent on brand name for its enterprise. Example of
franchisee is Hotel express international in UK.

Grading And Classification Systems
• Grading and classification systems can be refer to as a qualitative assessment of
accommodation facilities to assign them some ratings or grades which depends
on standards they offer in form of services and amenities.

Grading and classification system make easy for the customers to find out
most suitable accommodation with the help of grading on the scale of 1 to 5.

Conclusion
• From the above study it can be analysed that, housekeeping is basically an
operational department in hospitality industry, which is majorly responsible for
maintenance, cleanlinesses, aesthetic up-keeping of public area, rooms, back area
as well as surroundings.
