In Los Angeles, it was the first theme park introduced by Walt Disney and since that
time, it has expanded its footprints in various global countries. The success of the theme park
is influenced by various factors like transportation, economic development, culture and
degree of tourism and this required Walt Disney to think through the location of their parks.
In 1983, Walt Disney opened Disneyland in Tokyo with venturing and their
continuous growth can be seen over many years. The population in Tokyo is constantly
increasing and this will also result in rise in demands of the consumers. With regards to this,
one of the key characteristics that attracted Walt Disney is a great transportation system. This
support the fact that the park is positioned in the Tokyo Bay region and from central Tokyo
station, it is just twenty minutes away. As a result, more visitors will be attracted to the park
due to efficient and great transportation.
Walt Disney also introduced its second park that was opened in Paris, France and
mostly driven by the fact that Tokyo Disneyland had been successful. France can be said as
favourable place due to it is high per capita income and Paris is known to be one of the most
attractive countries for tourists (thelocal.fr, 2014). Due to these characteristics, it can be
assumed that Walt Disney was attracted as the success of any theme park is highly dependent
upon tourism.
Hong Kong was the second location for Mickey Mouse in Asia. The point is that
country has shown huge concern in global trade and had shown interest in connecting with
the Disney Kingdom. Here, these are the key attributes that have impacted Walt Disney to
incorporate their theme park as they gain right support from the government with the other
characteristics i.e. great transportation system and the rising population statists.
It is important for Walt Disney to continue increase its footprints in other countries
with additional foreign parks as not every individual can easily visit and be the tourist of
United States. Walt Disney can choose Beijing, Chongqing and Seoul as potential for
expansion due to growing patterns of population and income and it can be done by making
