INTRODUCTION
The health and social care are two vital aspects which are related with the treatment of ill
health and adverse medical condition in hospitals or any other health care centre on even in local
community (Charitonos and Littlejohn, 2021). Thus, health and social care professionals are the
individuals who are in support and provide care to sick and ill people along with supporting
vulnerable people and community. These health and social care professionals is need to be based
on some health and social care standards a discussion and application of which is provided in

Part 1: Exploration of various HSC standards
Various health and social care standards has been set out that are expected from a
professional while providing health and social care facility. The main eight standards of care that
are provided by the NSQHS standards comprises of ensuring high-prevalence adverse events,
along with minimizing healthcare- associated infections. Beside this, maintaining high
medication safety, comprehensive care along with proper clinical communication and the
prevention and management of pressure injuries is also forms out a vital care standard which
dictates and needs to be reflect in professional roles (Allen and et. al., 2021). Along with this,
ensuring the prevention of falls and quickly responding to clinical deterioration is also forms a
vital of key HSC standards that dictate professional roles that is depicted within the current case
study based on North Tyneside sheltered housing ‘Healthy Living’ pilot programme. The
health and social care standards are built and based in the five core principles that depicts the
professional role within social and health care services, a description and analysis of which are
provided as below:
Dignity and respect- It forms the basis of any professional working in the health and social
care as the human rights of each and every individual should be properly respected and promoted
by them. It is vital standard for health and social care that all professional must respect and
promote dignity of an individuals by the way of treating them in a fair manner and not
encouraging any kind of discrimination. A health and social care professional is also required to

respect and protect the privacy of all individuals to meet the health and social care standards
(Watkins, 2021).
Compassion- It also forms out a vital standard within the health and social care as it lead to
a warm, nurturing and compassionate care and support from the health and social care
professionals. Further, it has been also dictated by this standard of health and social care that the
professional must need to understand and support the sensitivity towards the needs and wishes of
the patients and their client to enhance and maintain the standard compassion.
Be included- It is the basic right of all individuals and patients to receive the right
information at right time and in such manner that can be easily understood by them which forms
a vital standard for health and social care. Apart from this, being able to make informed choices
to have control in care and support along with including within the wider decisions about the
service provided based on suggestions and feedback is also sets out as an important health and
social care standard. Beside this, having a proper inclusion and right to participate in a full and
active manner within the health and social care practises also dictate the professional role within
the Health and social care (Stuart, 2021).
Responsive care and support- It is also vital for a health and social care professional that is
seemed in current case study that it responsively evaluate and understand the health and social
needs of the patients that need to be properly assessed and reviewed by the professional to ensure
that they receive right support and proper care at right time. Apart from this, timely modification
and improvement within the care and supports is also needed which forms out base for
adaptability of needs, choices and decision change (Carlini and et. al., 2021).

it is ultimate goal and target of all health care professional to ensure wellbeing and safety of all
individual. The standard of wellbeing depicts that the lifestyle presence and aspiration of all

negligence and avoidable harm.

Part 2: Develop explanatory account of various behavioural theories
The Behavioural theory are the one that aim at explaining the human behaviour by
analysing the main antecedents and consequences that are present within the individual’s
environment and learned in association to what they acquired through previous experience. With
respect to current case study it has been analysed that the North Tyneside sheltered housing
tenant population is living under the high risk of falls and generally facing deterioration in health
as majority of tenants are living with chronic disease. Falls and general deconditioning has
become common problem for the North Tyneside sheltered housing tenants thus, positive action
are required to resolve and slow down theses deterioration and boost the morale and behaviour of
the tenants residing in North Tyneside sheltered housing (White, 2021). Further, it has been
analysed that the health behaviour theories are helpful in providing an explanatory framework of
the putative mediators of physical activity changes. Behaviourism theory plays a vital role in
incorporating the intensive longitudinal measurement of theoretical constructs that is critical for
improving the fit of control system model of physical activity and for advancing behavioural
theory for betterment health and social care practises and services. The main forms of
behavioural theories which supports improved health and social care standards and
professionalism are discussed and evaluated as below:
Behavioural learning theory- This theory is vital and important to bring relatively
permanent change in the behaviour of that is being brought about as a result of experience or
some past practises. Further, the main focus and emphasis of the behavioural approach is on
evaluating the ways that how the environmental impact and situation brings change in the
behaviour and how it can be directed towards more positive and optimistic feelings by learning
better ways of living and care. Thus, the behaviour theory is basically based on S-R paradigm
that comprises of a stimulus and response for it (Tomo and De Simone, 2021).
Contiguity Theory- This theory of behaviourism proposes that stimulus and responses are
properly connected in time and space that tend to be associated with the reflection and action of
stimulus.

Classical conditioning theory- The specific model of the classical condition theory of
behaviourism comprises of naturally level of stimulus that elicit and bring about the reflective
response in form of unconditioned stimulus and unconditioned response.
Operant Conditioning theory- This behavioural theory basically comprises of the impact of
consequences on behaviour which aim and emphasis on dealing with the voluntary behaviours
where the operant condition are tend to get presented in a separate form (Robertson and
Hoffman, 2021).
Part 3: Application of understanding to improve HSC standards and professional roles in the UK
On the basis of current study, it has been analysed that the experience and past practises of
North Tyneside sheltered housing tenants lead to the common problems such as falls and general
deconditioning that has made learning behaviour and practises of exercise and physiotherapy
more vital and important for them. Thus, it has become vital and important for health and social
care professionals to cope up with some positive solutions to overcome and mitigate the risk and
problem of falls and general deconditioning. It has been observed that coming up with effective
interventions for prevention of falls along with leading and ensuring improved safety assessment
visit at home are effective practises based on the standard of health and social care which support
mitigation of these problem (Mesmer and Jahng, 2021). Apart from this, application of
behavioural theory in order to motivate and direct these tenants towards improved learning and
applying regular visit and use of occupational therapist are also the effective ways to mitigate the
problem of falls and other deterioration in the health. Apart from this, taking out some effective
environmental assessment and great checklist determination are also key HSC standards for
determination and reduction of home hazards. Further, it has been also observed on the basis of
current case study that Physiotherapy is an integral part of the multifactorial approach that can be
taken as an aspect of behaviour theory and HSC standard to have falls education and intervention
(Gates and et. al., 2021).
Beside this, application of behavioural theories is applied to lead a positive feeling and
enthusiasm in the tenants to advise them towards importance and need of exercise in order to get
higher strength and balance to mitigate the risk of fall and other deterioration. Apart from this,

monitoring of education in case of fall or other risk along with regular monitoring the blood

physiotherapy are the effective ways that are based on application of behavioural theory and key
HSC standards that to improve HSC standards and professional roles in the UK. Apart from this,
an analysis can be made out that application of behavioural theory leads to improved learning
and understanding in the people to have improved safety and welfare that also facilitates and
leads to improve HSC standards and professional roles in the UK. Apart from this, implication of
all the stated principles of health and care standards that comprises of Dignity and respect,
Compassion, be included, Responsive care and support and Wellbeing through ensuring and
leading out professional working in the health and social that should be properly respected and
promoted at all level. Beside this, having compassion would also form out a vital standard within
the health and social care as it leads to a warm, nurturing and compassionate care and support
from the health and social care professionals to have improved practises within UK (Allen and
et. al., 2021). Along with this, having a feeling of being included is also a basic right of all
individuals and patients which supports the right information at right time and in such manner
that can be easily thus forms a vital for a health and social care professional. Apart from this, it is
seemed in current case study that it responsively evaluates and understand the health and social
needs of the patients that need to be properly assessed and reviewed by the professional to ensure
that they receive right support and proper care at right time to have reduction in chances of fall
and other deterioration. Thus, an analysis can be made that effective application of HSC
standards and behavioural theory provides effective measures to improve HSC standards and
professional roles in the UK.
