Impact on OHS practices due to
British Industrial Revolution
Earlier before the industrial revolution, people used to live through
the agricultural sector or by exchanging the products made in the
home. Therefore, the British have initiated the industrial revolution,
and that has evolved the adoption of industry and machine
manufacturing units. The changes include usage of new energy
sources, inventions of new machines, and the implementation of
many necessary materials.

Impact on OHS practices due to

Poor pay and longer working hours
Individuals losing their lives at the workplace
Hazardous for children as they work for more than
12 hours a day
Due to heavy machinery, it results in loss of limbs
or any other body part.
Younger children develop phossy jaw or get
injures due to the working in match factories of
the glasswork industry.

Importance of committee for health
and safety at work
For developing policy, that relates general health and safety among
the employees of the workplace
For addressing the aggregate accident and to analyse the
problematic areas of the incidences
Continual monitoring on the compliances of policies and
responsibilities of the senior management
