Introduction
In the emerging work environment, professional employability is the common term that denotes
different skills, which are needed for ensuring the efficiency in the workplace (8).
Communication, problem solving and team work are being considered as the important
employability skills which are required for increasing the professional standard of an employee.
In water resource management industry, the engineers should have the strong knowledge on
science and environment. The purpose of this study is to critically analyze the recruitment
practice followed by the water resource management sector in Australia. By continuing this,
career goals have been introduced especially focusing on the job role for waste water engineer.
In the end of this study, setting the specific goals, action plan for career improvement has been
introduced.

Recruitment practice within the water resource management industry in Australia
The major recruitment trend in Australia has shifted towards the online practices. Through the
online advertising process, four major recruitments are being followed by the waste water
engineering sector. In order to grab the attention of job seekers, through online advertisement,
description regarding the job role is being shared to the candidates (1). The job board members
play the important role for classifying the newspapers based on the skill and experience level of
the candidates. In the corporate portal, the employers share the job advertises related to the
vacancies. In order to seek the high quality employees, from the last few years, job search
aggregators have been developed in the market (2). It is also true that social media is making the

significant contribution in terms of making the job recruitment process smoother. Through
different social media sites the professional vacancies are being shared so that the skilled
candidates will get the chance for applying for the role (4). The search engine optimization
technique is being followed for the recruitment practices. In terms of promoting flexibility in job
searching process, different job consultancies have been introduced. Especially in the Australian
water engineering sector, the recruitment process is being developed based on the legal and
ethical navigation process. In case of recruitment process in water engineering sector, the policy
makers tries to maintain the balance between the candidate’s right and the policy (3). After the
increasing involvement of social media in job recruitment process, it has been identified that
linkdin and Glassdoor have become the important platform for job seekers. The profiles are
being reviewed by the employers and the selection is being done. Short listing the profiles, the
candidates get call from the companies end for the final interview round. In the initial stage the
recruitment process was relied on the print campaigns and the mass recruitment. However,
especially in then science and technical sectors, the recruitment process has become more static
and efficient. For the skill assessment, ICT has become the important professional standard for
maintaining the balance with organizational competency framework.
Role of networking within this industry
Role of networking in the water resource management industry is increasing day by day. The
information and communication technology tools have made the significant contribution in
handling the operation and water distribution process in an efficient manner (7). In order to
satisfy the crucial need for human survival, the availability of networking system has become the
important tool in terms of designing the water resource management data. It is true that global
infrastructure has got highly influenced after the involvement of networking in different
