MANAGING HUMAN RESOURCE4.1 Theories of leadership in health and social care workplace There are various theories of leadership that helps to maintain a proper work culture inthe workplace. Leadership is an essential aspect of health and social care services (Stretch,2007). Therefore, a leader controls entire process of the organization. The leadershiptheories related to health and social care discussed below: Situational TheoryAccording to this theory, the HR ofan organization should act as aleader in the critical situations.When there is a need of decisiontaking or changing some activities,the HR director should take thedecisions as a leader of the team. Itis a task oriented leadership theory.The management team shouldcreate requirements in regards tothe change of situation in the institution. Therefore, it is very important for everyindividual to adapt the changes and develop their skills according to thosechanging situation. To run a health and social care organization successfullysituation theory plays a very vital role (Stavans, 2010).Behavioral TheoryThis particular theory focuseson the behaviour of the leader.The leader should maintain acordial relationship with theco-workers of an organization.Therefore, the leader shouldmotivate the employees. The leader should maintain a friendly relation with theemployees so that they can be comfortable to work with them and it enhances theperformance of the employees.

4.2 Various strategies for managing the working relationships Each employee should manage the policies and legislations of the organization.The leader should maintain the disciplines among the employees, for maintainingfresh environment in an organization. Therefore, the leader should allow theemployees to participate in the decision-making procedures. This processimproves the performance of the employees and thereby it enhances therelationship between the leader and the employees. Proper communicationbetween the team members as well as between the higher authorities andemployee is very important to maintain a good working environment in a healthand social care organization. There is a big influence of management style tomanage the working relationships in workplace (Stavans, 2010).Organisational structure of an organization helps to maintain the workingrelationships between all the team members. A good leader is necessary tomaintain the work culture in the workplace. Contingency management also helpsto maintain a good relation between the staffs. If the employees shared their valuesand gives feedback about the work, it enhance the performance of the association.Therefore, to maintain a good working relationship between the members of theassociation, the health and social care association should introduce propercommunication and discipline in the workplace and proper monitoring ofperformance helps to maintain the work culture in the organization. The leaderwill manage the working in relationship, as they all have trust all the teammembers. A kind of effective leader should respect all other staffs and behave well
