To determine the impact of technology in enhancing the quality of care in Health and Social Care
INTRODUCTION
Digital technology is very important for the life of human being specially in health and
social care. There are many advantages of digital technology as it transformed the life into
modern life. Digital technology assist in compacting devices which makes tools, lighter, faster
and more versatile. Care UK organisation is chosen for assessment. This is a small health
sector of UK. Digital technology is a vast topic, thus in this present proposal technology
which is chose in Internet of Things (IOT). The internet of things has a myriad of applications
in healthcare that benefit patients, families and physicians alike. In health care organisation,
digital technology plays a vital role as it helps in making the work and performance more
effective. It solves many issues that are faced by people within organisation and many others.
This report will cover the scope and importance of digital technology within health care
organisation. Furthermore, this report will also cover the method of gathering information in
the research. Addition to this, aim and objectives of research will be determined which will
demonstrate the relevancy and feasibility of the project.
Aim: “To determine the impact of Internet of Things (IOT) in
enhancing the quality of care in Health Care: A case study on
Care UK”.
Objective 1: To understand the concept of of Internet of Things
(IOT)
Objective 2: To determine the impact of advanced equipment's
in Care UK
Objective 3: To identify the challenges faced by care givers
while using technology
Scope
The scope of this project is very
broad as it discusses the topic of
the concept of digital technology
and its impact on Care UK.
Digital technology is an
emerging topic as it will assist in
enhancing academic knowledge
while conducting research.
Rational
By conducting this research, researcher will able to gain
wide knowledge over concepts and impact of digital
technology. This research study is very useful as it
makes understood the importance of digital technology
in healthcare organization. Apart from this, researcher
will also analyze the challenges faced by care givers
while using advanced technological tools.
Relevance and Feasibility of project
The project is highly relevant to the chosen topic and area. All the
information that was discussed in this report is had high degree of
relevancy. The article cover the importance of digital technology
as well as challenges faced by caregivers implementing
digitalization within health care organisation. The Data is
collected by conducting questionnaire and all the information that
are collected have high degree of relevancy. Furthermore, in order
to make the article reliable as there are some effective evidence
included in researching information and data.
Application of theory of practice
There are different changes that has taken place in
relation with technology. All these are effective
enough to make sure that high quality services can be
delivered to people. With this respect, it includes
application which are developed by health care service
providers. It consists of information with regard to
health and helps individuals to take up initiative so as
to overcome their problems in effective manner.
Evidence:
In this modern world, the rate of individuals making use of technology has raised tremendously.
Further, health care institutes have also understood its importance. In this context, the image
shows that hospitals make use of social media like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. so that they
are able to provide adequate information regarding the services that are delivered. Further, there
are different type of benefits that are people gets when they make use of technology. With this
respect, it enables to provide adequate support to patients in determining their health. Apart from
people get to know their physical condition and get support from professionals accordingly.
Potential for insightful critical evaluation
According to the Stoddart and Evans
(2017), digital technology is very
broad topic and it is very popular in
today's era. All types of electronic
applications and equipment are
included in digital technology. These
all information are in the form of
numeric code. Digital describes
electronic technology that stores,
process and generates the data. In the
life of human, digital technology is
very addicted as now people become
very fast such as mobile phones,
laptops, computers and many others
machines. In health care organisation,
digital technology plays effective role
as for the health of patients it becomes
very effective for them take advice
from doctors at home by using mobile
phones. There are various applications
that help patients such as Doctorate
app which help patient to a great
extend like this app give all the
solutions, medicines for particular
disease that patient wants sitting at
home.
Drummond and et.al., (2015), said that, to implement digital
technology within organisation, there are various challenges faced
by caregivers such lack of proper training, lack of knowledge and
skills, lack of fund and many other issues too. These all are the
challenges that is very important for organisation to solve and
overcome these issues for smooth and healthy working
environment. In order to overcome the issues, company should
provide proper training to care givers before implementing new
technology. In training there should be complete knowledge and
method of using and implementing technology. Thus, these
training programmes leads to minimizing errors and mistakes
while operating. Like there are many machines and tools that are
needed proper knowledge for operating. At that time, it requires
proper training to caregivers. Apart from this, lack of
knowledgeable and skilful caregivers are also one of the biggest
issues faced by healthcare organisation. It is very important that
company should recruit and select skilful employees in an
organisation so that there are less chances of mistakes and errors.
In implementing technology it required huge amount of fund to
invest. In buying of machines and tools, it requires money and
digital technology changes with the passage of time. Thus, it is not
one time investment. It is capital investment but there repair
expenses are also there is implementation of digital technology.
Thus, digital technology require high working capital which is also
the biggest challenge for small and medium sector organisation.
As per the Bates and et.al., (2014), there is a great impact of
digital technology on healthcare organisations. In healthcare
industries, innovation plays a vital role in sustaining health.
Biotechnology, information technology, pharmaceutical,
development of tool and other medical devices are the areas of
health care where it is very necessary to have improvement and
development. In order to give the best care to patient it is very
important that health care organisation should use digital
technology such as MRI machines, Sonography machines, robotic
prosthetic limbs artificial organ, C.T scan and many other
machines that are very useful for patients. These machines or new
technologies has incredible impact on medicines. Apart from this,
in general context, digital technology improves the
communication of healthcare organisation as it facilitates smooth
and healthy communication within organisation. In order to
discuss health issues, spreading knowledge, real time meeting and
many other activities of company can be done by medical
professional by using such media like online, video etc.
Furthermore, there are some another benefits of digital
technology like it increases and make social connectivity like
organisations can easily stay in touch with patient and other
people. It speeds up the communication internally and externally.
Moreover, digital technology helps in storing information about
patients in small spaces. The physical location of patients is also
stored with the help of digital technology.
Research Methodology
Data
Collection
Data collection is one of the most essential method for
conducting successful research. It is a process of assembling and
measuring information or data on variables of interest. There are
two types of data collection method that is primary and
secondary data. Primary collection of data is more reliable as in
this method information is collected by the researcher own-self
such as interview, questionnaire, observation. Secondary data is
the information which is collected by other sources like books
and journal, articles, etc. In this present research study, data is
collected by both the sources.
Sampling Sample is subset of population that is represent entire group as a
whole. The methodologies that are used to determine sample
from a larger population is depends on the type of analysis. In
this research study, simple random sampling will be used.
Researcher will conduct through questionnaire from 20
managers of Care UK.
Data Analysis Data Analysis is a procedure of inspecting, transforming,
cleansing and modelling of information. The main purpose of
data analysis is to make the information useful by segmenting
useful and non-data. Quantitative and qualitative are the two
method of data analysis among which researcher has made use
of qualitative method in which thematic analysis will be used.
