Introduction
Tourism is a travel based activity that is performed for the purpose of gaining pleasure or
business. The theory or the practice of the process of touring and the business based on
accommodating, attracting and also entertaining the tourists is a major part of tourism. Tourism
can either be international or within the country of the traveler itself. Tourism is also defined as
the activities that are performed by people who wish to travel to different places outside the
environment in which they stay for not more than a year for the purpose of leisure (Andersson,
2016). The experiences that are gained by tourists in different destinations in the world have an
impact on the ways by which the economies of the countries are influenced. The attractiveness of
the destinations is also increased with the help of increase in the number of tourists who visit
different destinations in the world (Björk & Sthapit, 2017).
Definition of concept of tourist experience
Tourist experience is considered to be a set of different activities in which the individuals
engage on the personal terms that include the pleasant and the memorable places that can allow
tourists to build their personal travel experiences. The experiences are based on the fulfillment of
their personal needs that include pleasure to the search of meaning as well. The consumption of
tourism is based on the consumption of experiences (Campos et al., 2018). The understanding
based on the ways by which tourists are able to experience different people and places they are
able to visit. Tourism is considered to be a fundamental part of the experiences that are thereby
gained by people. Tourism literature has gained major levels of attention in the last few years in
order to understand different perspectives of the experience that is provided to the people from
different parts of the world (Cetin & Bilgihan, 2016).

The report will be based on the analysis of a recent tourism experience that has been
gained based on the trip that had been made in the US, California. The tourist experience will
also be analyzed based on the Cutler & Carmichael conceptual model.
Outline of chosen tourist experience
The touristy experience that has been chosen for the analysis in the report is a trip to
California in the US. Travel and tourism is considered to be the most important part of the
economic growth that has been gained by California in the last few years. The travelers in the
country inject more than hundreds of millions of dollars into the different communities that are
present across Golden State. More than 140 Billion Dollars have been injected to the economy of
the state in the year 2018 (Chandralal & Valenzuela, 2015). The spending that has been made
was also able to generate 11.8 Billion Dollars in the local as well as state tax revenues. California
has also developed the position of the fifth biggest economy in the world and the state also
cannot afford to lose benefits that have been gained from the thriving tourism economy. The
brand of California has also been established by the government in an effective manner in order
to attract customers from different parts of the world (Geus, Richards & Toepoel, 2016).
Different factors are also considered to be responsible for the choice of California in
order to gain a tourist experience. The factors that have been able to provide the highest level of
motivation are as follows,
The physical motivation is considered to be a major factor that had an impact on
the decision based on travel that was taken. The proper refreshment of the mind
and body, sports and pleasure and the health and mind purposes are considered to
