Tourist destination is defined as different places where tourists visits for a day or night. It
is said by WHO that destination is defined as a unique place where a visitor spends at least one
night and experience tourism products like attractions, tourism resources and support services in
a defined management and administrative as well as physical boundaries. In this report there is a
case of Audley Travel Group Limited which is a private company having two offices in London
and Witney. The following report discusses about main tourist destinations and generators of
world in relation to income generation and visitor number (Boes, Buhalis, and Inversini, 2015).
Also this report includes statistics for estimating trends of tourist destination and evaluating
social, cultural and physical features of worldwide tourist destinations.

The different main tourist destinations according to tourist arrivals and income generation
are mentioned below -

tourism is due to culture. The GDP of UK is
getting contribution of around 61.9 bn
according to the statistics of 2017. This is
approximately 3.5% of total GDP. There were
around 36.115 million visits in UK in the year
2015. The biggest competent of UK tourism is
domestic tourism (Fatanti, and Suyadnya,
2015). The leisure tourism of UK included both
inbound and domestic tourism up to 59.6% of
direct GDP. Tourism has helped in increasing

various natural and scenic beauty of Phewa lake. There is also presence of snowy mountains of
Himalayas. This city attracts hard core trekkers and it provides trekking tour. This city is
experiencing rapid urbanisation and it has developed a lot since years. This city is amongst the
most attractive tourist destinations of Nepal. Pokhra has developed many shopping malls and
airports for attracting more number of foreign tourists. This also helps in improving facilities and
services given to local people (Brouder, and et.al., 2016). There are several temples and other
religious places in this city. Pokhra has many holy places that are related to Buddhism and
Hinduism. This city is a great mixture of traditional and heritage places and modern
infrastructure. This city is situated close to capital city of Nepal thus there is no problem of
connectivity. This city has opportunity for mountaineers and adventure lovers to spend leisure
time.

different cultures. Also natural setting of these cities is also not similar. These cities are very

There are many different types of issues they all affect popularity of tourist destinations.
They all determine level which attracts tourists towards a destination, some of them are
described below:
Changes in climatic condition: Every individual is adapted to a particular climatic
condition. Some climatic conditions may prove very adverse for their health. They may not
prefer visiting a place whose climatic conditions are not favourable for them. Thus, Changes in
climate may affect a tourist destination in a positive or negative manner both.
Natural Disaster: Natural disasters are very common and uncertain. They can occur
anytime anywhere. If some areas have very frequent occurrence of natural disasters. Then this
will surely affect number of tourists visiting that place in a negative way. So, attempts must be
made by government to make adequate preventive measures for such natural disasters.
Political issues: Different types of political issues also affect number of tourists visiting
any place. If there are lot of issues prevailing at a particular place then it will also negatively

Responsible tourism affects overall popularity of a place. It basically deals with various
stakeholders making efforts to increase popularity and attractiveness of a place for tourists (Su,
and et.al., 2019). This is very important especially for all developing countries for example
Nepal is one such country. Responsible tourism is a opportunity, which can help such countries
Analyse the issues which affects popularity of tourist destinations
There are many different types of issues they all affect popularity of tourist destinations.
They all determine level which attracts tourists towards a destination, some of them are
described below:
Changes in climatic condition: Every individual is adapted to a particular climatic
condition. Some climatic conditions may prove very adverse for their health. They may not
prefer visiting a place whose climatic conditions are not favourable for them. Thus, Changes in
climate may affect a tourist destination in a positive or negative manner both.
Natural Disaster: Natural disasters are very common and uncertain. They can occur
anytime anywhere. If some areas have very frequent occurrence of natural disasters. Then this
will surely affect number of tourists visiting that place in a negative way. So, attempts must be
made by government to make adequate preventive measures for such natural disasters.
Political issues: Different types of political issues also affect number of tourists visiting
any place. If there are lot of issues prevailing at a particular place then it will also negatively
affect popularity of that place (Michailidou, And et.al., 2016). Government of a country should
work upon minimizing such political issues to increase number of tourists.
Terrorism:It is one of important factors which affects choice of destination by tourists.
Terrorism is a big threat for people, as it affects them both mentally and physically. If a place has
very terrorist attacks then it will be less in priority tourists.
Tourism trends:Popularity of a place is also affected by tourism trends prevailing in a
country. If a particular place is very expensive then many people may not be able to afford it. So,
prices at which goods and services are offered in a particular place also affects its overall
popularity. Also, what value a particular place is providing to people visiting there is also of
utmost important from viewpoint of tourists.

done such as environmentally, economically and socially. every economy surely gets benefits in
short run, but in long run there are not much benefits in economic and social terms. The need is
that local people must always be integrated in social development of country.
There are many different types of resources available with a country. Efforts must be
made by people of that country to make effective use of those resources to utilize them in
fulfilling the needs of various tourists. A proper tourism development plan must be prepared by
concerned authorities to outline various goals and objectives. This will help them to know their
present state and what they have to achieve.
There are many benefits of developing a responsible tourism for a country which must be
realised them. They must work to reduce negative affect of those factors which are affecting
them economically and socially (Viken, and Granås, eds., 2016). efforts must be made to
maximize economic benefits to satisfy local people and also to increase quality of services for
tourists. Satisfaction of tourists is very important as it will help in enhancing number of tourists
over time visiting particular place. Make more attempts to conserve tourist destinations,
historical places, places of heritage to increase their survival for longer period of time.
There is a very strong responsible tourism in Liverpool. They have abundance of
resources which they invest them to make their city attractive for tourists. Financial resources are
invested to increase number of tourists (Tigre Moura, Gnoth, and Deans, 2015). This has a
positive impact on overall tourism industry in Liverpool. Whereas, Pokhra is located in Nepal
which is a developing country. Nepal also has availability of resources but their investment in
development of tourism is comparatively low.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it is considered that tourist destination is involved in improving
services and facilities of a place. It is essential for countries to focus on social, cultural and
physical features of tourist destination. By analysing these factors a country will be able to
improve facilities, infrastructure and services of tourist destination. In the above report three
cities naming Liverpool, Pokhra and Sydney are discussed. The discussion suggests that
government of developing countries must focus on tourism so that more number of tourists visit
that place. They must maintain social, physical and cultural characteristics of tourist destination.
