TOXIC FEMINISM2 Toxic Feminism Feminism was originally intended to bring to an end gender discrimination and ensure that women are given equal opportunities with men. While those intentions were good and justifiable, there has arose some modern-day feminism that could be regarded as toxic. This is the kind of feminism that does not care about discrimination. All that matters to supporters of this kind of feminism is that women are not discriminated. It does not care whether or not men are discriminated or not. Due to the fact that this feminism does not care about the oppression of males, then it must be a toxic feminism (Toxic Feminism, 2019). Healthy feminism would be concerned with ensuring that there is equality for all. Toxic feminism is not valid since it is subjective and assumes that all women are good while all men are bad. Toxic feminism assumes that all females are good and that all males are bad. Therefore, without considering the unique attributes of every person, this kind of feminism suggests that there is nothing good that can come out of a male. It is not only wrong but untenable to categorize all people under one blanket. There is only one conclusion that be made of such kind of feminism, that is, it is false and ill-informed. One of these groups of feminists suggest that all females who have heterosexual partners should forego all intimate relations with the aim of achieving what is referred to as ‘political lesbianism.’ Further, this group suggests that all females can and should be lesbians. This kind of advocacy is made in a bid to show that men are evil/ bad and they should never be trusted. It is important to note the groups of men that exists according to this feminism. Such groups are only 3, that is, rapists, sexual harassers and potential rapists and harassers. These feminists avoid criminating men on biological terms for they would want to believe that women are not biologically limited in any way.
TOXIC FEMINISM3 Feminism particularism is usually demonstrated by the constantly demanded and believed that when a woman claims that they have been assaulted in any way by a man, then they must be believed. One of the well-known leaders in America, Hillary Clinton said during one of her political campaigns any woman who survives sexual assault deserved to be heard and believed. While sexual assault can never be justified in any way, it is important to appreciate that men can also be victims of sexual assault. In addition, it is possible for a female to make false allegations of assault with the aim of punishing an innocent male. There has been a significant number of cases of assault that were overthrown due to lack of enough evidence. There are also others where the complainants were found guilty of giving false testimony. If these feminist thought of every human being as an individual rather than a member of either a good or bad group, then they would understand that it is possible for aby person to lie and that it is important for every allegation that is made to be rigorously tested so that the truth can be arrived at. Some believe that is due to this kind that we have courts delegating the role of custody of child to mother and that of payments to father in case of a divorce or break ups in marriage relationships. There are several ways in which this issue can be resolved. One would be shifting the attention from treating all men as bad and all women as good to encouraging every person to respect the rights of others. According to the feminist theory, it is important for the society not to look down upon women but rather support and empower them. This theory is founded on the idea that male dominance is still prevalent and may limit women in several ways. It is important to note that this theory does not advocate for discrimination of men. Rather, it aims to bring to the light the plight of women and encourage appropriate action to be taken to alleviate the discrimination that may exist.
TOXIC FEMINISM4 Extensive research has revealed that one of the best ways to ensure that the rights of women are respected and that equality is achieved, is to ensure that men are involved in constructive feminism (Pateman, 2018). Female constructivism theory states that research is important in guiding any successful endeavour. Therefore, it would be true to conclude that involving women in feminism is a great way of helping reduce discrimination and increase equality. There are several campaigns that have been carried out to support women. Extensive research has found that such campaigns achieve greater levels of success when men are involved. This piece of news cannot be referred to as feminist resistance. Feminist resistance usually refers to opposition to three main things: neoliberalism, control of women’s bodies by the state and violence against women. This piece of news does not present any of these or any other forms of feminist resistance. Rather is presenting a kind of arising feminism that appears to be toxic. Therefore, this piece of news can be regarded to as work that is still to be done. There are several ways in which this kind of feminism can be dealt with so that it does not change the fabrics of the society for the worse. The best way to approach this issue is to carry out research. Such research should investigate where these ideas are originating from, what if fuelling them and the best way to deal with the issue before it becomes out of hand. Research is very important for it is the one that would best investigate what is leading to such a scenario as the one explained above (Naffine, 2018). It is important for every person on earth to understand that every human being is unique and that it does not make sense to treat all people as being the same. It may be that some people are psychologically hurting and they may need professional psychological help.
