This paper is based on the topic of “strategic importance, and practical benefits, of lifelong
learning and the role of training and development in building the knowledge, skills and
capability of adult learners”.
Lifelong learning is the on-going, voluntary and self-motivated pursuit of knowledge for
either personal or professional reasons. It is not only enhances the personality, skills, active
citizenship, and social inclusion but also enhances the self-sustainability with the
competitiveness and employability (Osborne, 2018).
Lifelong learning is important for the many factors in order to achieve the success in the life.
It helps to increases the confidence and adaptability that is necessary for the personal
development of a person. Each and every person required to develop their skills to grab the
new opportunity to success in their career. Personality development helps to develop a
positive attitude in every situation of life. It is a fact that the personality of a person can be
developed due to increasing confidence. Lifelong learning helps to develop the confidence
and adaptability due to increasing knowledge of an individual (Illeris, 2018).
The importance of lifelong learning is social awareness and perspective. Lifelong learning
increases the social awareness of an individual. It is essential to interact with others, in order
to enhance the personal skills that positively impact on the emotional intelligence and bring
the greater happiness and success. Interaction with the others helps in the personal and
professional areas. Lifelong learning is not all about the skills and development but it is also
enhances the skills of social inclusion. It is important for an individual to enhance the skills
of social inclusion in order to interact with the others. Lifelong learning is the learning of
social inclusion that is why; lifelong learning is important for social interaction (Horrigan,
2016).

Life enrichment and improved health are the other point which states the importance of
lifelong learning. Lifelong learning is also the part of self-motivation and human flourishing.
This learning increases the curiosity of learning the different skills in order to enhance the
knowledge. Enhancing knowledge and personality development is the technique of self-
motivation that helps to achieve the multi-dimensional goal of life. It is fact that the self-
motivated mind helps to prevent themselves from the diseases of memory loss with the age
related (Career Vision, 2018). Self-motivation is also a part of personality development that
is necessary to develop the good career path. It is a fact that the demand and wish list of an
individual is never finished that is why; a person put the efforts to attain the goal and wishes.
Self-motivation helps to attain the multi-dimensional goal of life and that is beneficial for an
individual.
There are some practical benefits that help an individual to attain the success in the personal
as well as the professional life. There are some professional people continue their learning
with the jobs in order to get the promotions and higher position in the other organisation. It is
observed that 39% of professional learner continues their education with their work to grab
the good opportunity (Meridian, 2018). Enhancing knowledge motivate the person to attain
its all objectives and goal of life.
As discussed above, the lifelong learning also protect from diseases in related to memory.
Lifelong learning also helps to enhance the skills of time management due to which the other
issues related to health is also prevented. Healthy body helps to attain the goal easily in the
real life. There are many people get the promotion due to their full attendance in their rules
and responsibility (Cheary, 2018). It has been seen that the organisation also offers the
responsibilities to those person who are physically and mentally fit. Getting promotion for
high attendance is a real life example of benefit of lifelong learning.
