1. Objective of the study
Study about the trust in the police and to describe the impact of vandalism and criminal
damage on quality of life.
2. Back ground of the study
Studies conducted in England and Wales in April 2017 to March 2017 show that vandalism,
crime or graffiti can change people's attitudes to quality of life.
3. Variables used
Nine variables have been extracted from the original survey SPSS file, and a new file names
“data.sav” has been made.
Steps to follow: File - > Save as - > Variables (select the following variables) - > Finallly
save the new data.

“vandals”

4. Information about Sample of Study
The original data set of the complete survey contained 2639 variables with 35420
observations. Out of 2639 variables, only 9 variables were selected for the present study. The
new SPSS file with selected variables will look like as the following screenshot.
5. Missing Value Treatment
Missing values were coded 8, 9, 98, 99, 998, and 999 according to the following screenshot.
Steps: Go to Missing tab and declare the missing values

6. Variable Filtering
Confidence of females on the effectiveness of police at arresting/catching criminals was
found. Sex was filtered for females as follows:
Steps: Data - > Select Cases - > If condition is satisfied -> take sex = 2 (females)
