Functional: Under this form of structure small group of people are formed
according to their functions, skills and responsibilities who are
supervised and managed under a single superior (Niedermeier and
et.al., 2016). There lies centralisation of power in one hand where one
person has the authority whereas rest of the people works under
control of that person. There is a rigidity of this form of framework in
an organisation where all the people have to report under a single
head. This kind of structure is followed by the amateur sports club.
Divisional: This type of structure supports division of people in various
departments according to their specialisation and knowledge of work.
For each department, one head is appointed under whom subordinates
are kept. This form of hierarchy division the flow of authority and
responsibility is flows upward to downward which means that a
person at top will have highest responsibility and authority. This type
of structure is followed by the UK Athletics.
Matrix: It is a mixture of functional along-with divisional structure in
which flow of information is not restricted to superior subordinate
communication and flows freely. In this form of structure, the
employees are headed by many leaders that may create chaos in flow
of information and smooth working of employees. This kind of
structure is followed by the JD Sports.
Flat: Small business entities mainly applies this form of structure which
follows a single strand of horizontal chain for the flow of command and
reactions (Singh and et. al., 2020). The superiors and subordinates are the
similar in authority and responsibility.
JD Sports follows matrix form of structure because the activities of this
business are focused on retail business. The activities which has been
conducted in this organisation does not require particular skills and action plan
to be executed in order to gain high sales(JD Sports Fashion). Every individual
hired is working together to attain high sales objective and attracts more and
more customers towards themselves. The functions performed by JD Sports are
interlinked to each other and to management objectives and structures. Their
interlinked connection is elaborated below:
HR and Finance: These functions in an organisation are highly coiled
to each other and affects themselves significantly. Within an organisation
human resource activities can be conducted into effective manner when there is
proper support from finance department. Under JD Sports they have managed
the activities of human resource into result oriented manner and in order to
provide remuneration to the employees it is necessary that they ensure that they
have enough fund for this purpose.
Marketing and R&D: Marketing becomes effective when research and
development strategies and techniques have been applied into effective manner.
(Pearson and et.al., 2015). Research and development is the key of doing
marketing into effective manner that's why they are related to each other JD
Sports has done marketing through support of social media channels after
studying the market into appropriate manner.
CONCLUSION
The above stated report concludes that business environment plays a very
important role in the context of an organisation’s decision making and future
growth and development as well. Thats why it is necessary for the organisation.
