TASK 1
a. Analyse the skills and qualities required for a specific mentoring role.
There are different skills and qualities required for mentoring in order to successfully
perform different role. Mentor have to conduct different task and perform various role in order to
provide assistance and guidance to increase capabilities of employees. In an organisation mentor
role is to develop individual capabilities and ability in the specific subject with the motive of
providing benefits to organisation. Mentor needs to have expertise knowledge and information in
the subject (Commodore and et.al., 2016). This is effective skill and capability of mentor that is
significant for performing role of mentoring and significantly developing individual capabilities
as well as willingness in specific subject. Mentors needs use inductive and deductive techniques
while carry out mentoring roles. This type of techniques is significant for deliver a formal
programme covering the period of time. It is essential skill of mentor to have availability on
regular basis so that correct and accurate guidance can be provided to individuals. Effective
verbal and non verbal communication skill is significant for successfully performing mentoring
roles.
b. Explain how own values, behaviours, attitudes and emotional awareness can impact on the
mentoring role.
Values, behaviours, emotional awareness and attitude will lead to have major impact on
mentoring role and affect the overall performance. Own values are significant for shaping by the
different factors such as social, cultural and political factors. Values, behaviours and attitude of
person is significant for problem solving. It will impact over the mentor role to solve critical and
complex issues of organisation. The impact of values, behaviours, emotional awareness and
attitude of person will impact over the creating a rapport, codes of practices, confidentiality and
resolving the conflicts of interest (Abbott-Anderson, Gilmore-Bykovskyi and Lyles2016). This
will lead to direct the actions for performing mentoring role. Technical or problem solving
reflection will be affect by the own attitude and emotional awareness regarding the problem.
Values of individual or mentor will impact over the analysis of whole situation and taking
correct decision in order to resolve situation. Appraisal of the situation involve the assumption

and values of individual who is reflector. There are different models of reflection such as
Gibbs, Johns, Rolfe and so on.
c. Explain why it is important to establish ground rules for engagement and boundaries in a
mentoring relationship.
It is essential to established effective ground rules for the engagement and boundaries in
mentoring relationship as it is significant for creating structure as well as providing clarity for
performing task. Ground rules for engagement is significant for fosters commitment of mentors
and employees so that strong relationship is created. Rules will help in timely allocation of task
and practices so that work can be completed with in right time (Beutel and et.al., 2017). It is
important for enhancing and facilitate learning of individuals so that different organisational
task and practices can be performed in more effective and efficient manner. Ground rules for
engagement and boundaries in mentoring relationship is important for providing more clearly
regarding the roles and responsibility as well as expectation of organisation for individuals.
Through this activities can be performed in more accurate and appropriate manner. Ground rules
will assist in providing proper direction and guidance in order to maintain trust and
confidentiality between employees and mentors. This will help in creating relationship more
stronger and improve performance of employees.
d. Explain the importance of acting according to ethical and professional standards in a
mentoring relationship.
There are various importance that could be successfully attain by acting according to
ethical and professional standards with in mentoring relationship. Ethics and professional
standards is consider as essential for providing correct information about the roles and
responsibility. This will help in increasing the performance and successfully conducting business
task in order to meet with the expectation of company. Ethical and professional standards are
important for mentoring relationship by following codes of conduct. Professional standards is
effective for increasing mentoring relationship by providing accurate guidance for conducting
business task (Adams, 2016). Through this performance of individual will be enhanced and
increase and work will be completed as per the professional standards set by company to attain
desired goals. This is significant for following polices and practices of organisation and correctly
