Introduction to managing and leading people
Achievement oriented- This states that difficult tasks are assigned to subordinates & when they are
achieved appraisal is given by leaders to employees. Through using this style, it is easy to enhance
motivation level at of personnel at higher scale.
The above stated style shows that it is necessary to achieve goals & objectives in proper manner.
Furthermore, it is seen that with proper using of leadership style, it is easy to make decisions in most
efficient manner.
Leadership approaches-
Situational leadership approach- According to this approach, it states that there are different
types of situations & leaders on basis of which leadership style is used. It also reflects that leadership is
combination of both social system & personality interactions. In market & situations, there are various
types of situations on basis of styles are used by leaders.
Contingency approach- This method shows that there need to be leadership style depends upon
different type of situations on basis of which decisions are made in appropriate manner. This approach
also shows that there is no particular situation which in which fixed leadership style is used.
Behavioural approach- It is another approach in which it reflects that leadership is comprising of
two behaviours which are task & relationship behaviour. This depicts behaviour of leader in process.
Thus, it has been examined that it is essential to be aware about these approaches so that it is easy
to get work done. Further, contingency approach is being considered as most effective one as because
behaviour of leaders is changed according to occur of event or situations. Moreover, with proper analysis
of internal management, it is easy to use favourable approaches effectively.
Leadership and its approaches
Leadership is defined as process of influencing others decision to get work done. A leader’s
main role is to motivate employees sop that work & better output is achieved within a period of
time. Leadership requires wide range of skills & knowledge which is needed to be adopted in
correct way. In an organisation, leader is liable to improve the workforce capability & deliver
positive outcome within management. Organisation without a leader cannot in survive in market
for longer time interval. A leader takes decision on basis of different leadership style which are
discussed below-
Directive leadership style- It is type of leadership style in which leader guides and directs
employees & tells them how to work at workplace. In this, only formal relationship is
maintained by leaders.
Supportive leadership style- In this type of leadership style it reflects that leaders support their
subordinates in both personal & informal ways on basis of which it become easy to get work
done in timely period.
Participative style- It is a type of style in which leaders participate in every activity of
employees. Through using this style, it is easy to engage with subordinates at workplace which
us beneficial for achieving higher growth. By adopting this style, it is easy to retain subordinates
for longer period of time.
