TASK 1A manager plays important role in an organisation and its main responsibility is tomanaging and controlling business activities in order to enhance its growth and development.Manager performs various duties where he is responsible to make plans and policies with theireffective implementation in order to achieve advantages (Dhami and Thomson, 2012). I am working as a manager in a small business organisation which is a clothing retailcompany and has only three employees. It is important for me to manage the business effectivelyin order to enhance its productivity and efficiency which will help me in increasing theprofitability. Apart from this, I need to carry out four main functions of management which willsupport me in achieving the desired goals and objectives. These functions of managementincludes planning, organising, leading and controlling. All these functions are described asfollows: -Planning:It is one of the main role of manager within organisation which is linked with preparationof plans by which goals and objectives of firm can be achieved effectively within a stipulatedtime frame. The following process does not only includes the way to acquire all requiredresources and responsibility delegation but also involves setting of realistic goals with itsstandards and timeline for attaining it. Planning requires that manager must perform role wherehe checks the performance of staff members and make necessary changes wherever required.The following function consists of independent working with responsibility to determine whichrole is to be given to employees. Apart from this, the function involves setting priorities forvarious tasks and setting time frame till which the work has to be completed.Being the manager in small business, I need to plan effectively in order to allocate theresources within a given period of time which will help in continuous working of organisation.Apart from this, as firm has only few number of staff members, it is necessary for me to managethem effectually with proper planning (Dyck, Starke and Weimer, 2012). Organising:It goes hand in hand with the function of planning. A manager’s organisational quality isthe most important in order to ensure smooth working of business activities. This function ofmanager involves the development of business structure and allocation of all required resourcesfor achieving goals and objectives of business firm..
