1UNDERSTANDING ROLES AND SKILLS Fundraising events does not mean only raising money but it also fulfills the purpose of promoting a notable cause and charity. Fundraising is important for charity groups to make people aware and make them understand about the goals of the organization. This paper talks about the organization Transparent Hands and the fundraising method that will help the organization to achieve their goals. Transparent Hands is a Non-profit organization that funds free surgical and medical care for the underprivileged class. The main aim of the organization is to raise fund to help and support the people who deserve proper medical facilities but cannot afford them. The fund raising event that will be conducted by the organization Transparent Hands will be a marathon. Recently the NGO Transparent Hands has been dealing with many patients who have heart diseases and need heart surgeries thus marathon has been chosen as the ideal event to raise fund as running improves heart health. In order to successfully conduct the event the team leader needs to choose people who will be best suitable for the event and people who will have proper skills to run the event successfully. 3UNDERSTANDING ROLES AND SKILLS The Marathon event that is going to be organized for the NGO, Transparent Hands needs the five people who will be able to carry out the five roles that will comprise of the team leader, an event planner, an event manager, a safety coordinator and a publicist. A team leader needs to make sure that all the work is being distributed and performed properly by the people. The event planner needs to make a proper plan that will help to raise the funds. The event manager needs to coordinate with the people to make sure that the event is going to go smoothly and achieve the goal that the event intends on doing. As this is a marathon event preventive and safety measures must be taken to ensure that there are no casualties and the people participating in the event are safe and enjoy the event as well. The committee here is a team as people here are working to achieve the mutual goal that is raising fund for the people who need a heart surgery. The people here are not working for their individual benefits or for any personal motive. All the roles are interrelated and the people are participating and contributing their best to make the event a huge success to raise funds for the NGO that will help save lives. As a team leader the main aim is to motivate the people who are working under him or her and put full faith on the people. The key factor that I would like to foster on my junior’s to be organized, be passionate and to be calm under pressure. These are three attributes a person should have when they are working for events as events need to be organized in a systematic manner so that the event goes smoothly. One must be passionate towards the work that is being conducted as the main aim of the event is to raise fund for people who cannot afford expensive medical costs. A person’s passion will make the person work hard and give their best to make sure the primary goal is being achieved. Organizing events can build pressure as there are many things that may go wrong and many untoward situations may arise. Being calm in such situation helps people to think rationally and take effective alternative steps that will eventually pave for a successful event.
