INTRODUCTION
Understanding self and others required to analyse individual ability which further helps in
developing personal or professional life. It is very important to know yourself, skills and
competencies which make you capable to understand others & different circumstances (Cunha,
Xavier and Castilho, 2016). In order to lead others, people need to connect with others, motivate
them, fulfil their needs, inspire and provide value or core benefits. Individual need some specific
skills to understand others but before that they have to evaluate their own skills & competencies.
This report cover various topics such as identifying 4 core skills and analyse that how it will
provide benefits and develop personal development plan. In addition, identify strength &
weakness of their skills and address the area which required improvement.

It is the process of analysing of improving their skill which required development. With
the help of personal development plan (PDP) individual able to understand strength & weakness.
In order to measure their potential, individual have to increase awareness regarding their skills &
quality which make them different from other and capable to achieve goals & objectives
(Doherty and Doherty, 2018). According to career point of view or achieve higher place in their
professional life they required some specific skills which discussed below:

What is the core skill ?
Public Speaking: It is an essential ability or skill which help in communicating information to
others and basically this word use for large audience. For example: In the workshop,
conference, school or personal lives as well. Most of the people having fear of speaking in
public. So regular practice will make it simple and make them individual capable to share
information to their audience with full of confidence which directly influence those who
listing them.
Why is this core skill important ? Why did I select this skill to reflect on ?
It helps in improving individual knowledge as well as confidence which required at the time
of performing on the stage. Every student will face this situation where they have to perform
in front of large audience. It help in all level such as school, collage life, in the office and in

the social activities as well. This skill helps in generating confidence and motivate other
through speaking which very beneficial for personal or professional growth. It s very effective
skill which make individual connected with other and it positively impact on their life.
Reflect on your current competent regarding this skill. How did you assess your
competence ?
I am confidant to speak in from of huge audience but sometimes I am getting nerves too.
Speaking in front of public and influence others with the help of my communication skill will
enhance my personality. In collage life, I was a member of dance group and I have to handle
total 10 people and who are totally different from each others. Due to my public speaking
skills, each & every team member listen my words and understand that (Gore and Cross,
2014). My friends and family always said that, I have ability to lead people due to effective
communication in front of huge audience. Due to lots of compliment I have confidence that I
am capable in public speaking skill.
Can you identify any contradictions from your analysis above ? For example, is there a
match between how you see yourself and how others see you, or not ?
When we are working in a team, then it is possible to contradict with pothers. Each and every
team member have different point of view which can create dispute among the members.
When we are performing, few members agreed with my decisions regarding dance steps,
dresses and so on. But, when we all discussed about it, then they all are agreed on what i said
to them. In the last, we all done very well in the performance which provide us compliment. It
is true that, public speaking is very important when you are leader or lead a team because it
helps in motivating & encouraging others with the help of impressive way of communication.
How will this skill help me in the future ?
Public speaking skills helps in career progress which indicate creativity, critical thinking,
leadership, motivation etc. of an individual. It also helps in boosting my confidence which
overcome the fear of insecurity. Writing a speech will make my thinking capacity creative so
yes, I can say that public speaking helps in to improve my creative thinking.
