INTRODUCTIONHealth and social care sector is the backbone of an economy. It is very necessary for thecomfortableness and happiness of the people. Health is the most essential element of the livingbeings. But due to the increasing problems in the living standard, Health of people is goingdown. So, It is very crucial for people to determine the changes in health. With the changingenvironment, needs of humans are also changing regarding health and social care services. Thetaken organisation in this assignment is NHS hospital who is providing health services to thepeople of UK. This report will discuss the concept and perceptions of health, disability, illnessand behaviour on changing needs of people. Also the care needs of individuals with specificneeds and the current systems for supporting individuals with specific needs has also beendiscussed. This report will also discuss the potential impact of emerging developments,approaches, intervention strategies which supports the individuals with specific needs. In theend, various concepts and the potential impact of challenging behaviour on health and social careorganisation along with the strategies to overcome these challenges which are associated with theneeds of people.TASK 11.1: Concepts of health, disability, illness and behaviour in relation to users of health and socialcare servicesThere are various concepts and terms associated with the health and social care sector.These concepts must be clear to the services provider and to the workers of the organisation forperforming their role and duties in a proper way. The perceptions and misunderstandingsregarding the health, disability, illness, and behaviour can restrict the organisation in achievingtheir set objectives and goals. Health is the mental and physical condition of individuals orpeople. World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as the good state of mental, physicaland social well being without any disease or problems in body (Archer and et. al., 2011). Itindicates that the people are having a good feeling when they are healthy because of no diseaseor problems. People generally thinks that health means no problems or disease in human body,that's why people in such condition referred as the healthy people. Disability refers to thephysical or mental impairments of an individual which restricts them to take full or equalparticipation in the activities of the society. Thus , it is not a health issue rather it is a complex1

process which reflects the interaction between a individual's body and features of the society inwhich they lives. Overcoming these issues or difficulties which is faced by disabled people needsinterventions from society and government to eliminating these barriers of society. Illness is thepersonal condition of individuals or people which varies upon the personal emotions andperceptions. But, the illness is must for diagnosing the problems and disease which arose in thebody (Aveyard, 2014). Illness behaviour refers to the manner in which the individuals monitortheir body's condition and take necessary precaution using health care services for eliminatingthe sickness or disease.1.2: Assessment of how perceptions of specific needs have changed over timeThe modern world is changing rapidly in this 21st century due to the various technologicaladvancements for the ease of people. The belief, feelings and requirements of the people are alsochanging continuously according to the trends. The perception of specific needs is also changingwith the time and people with such needs are more vulnerable to the harmful problems such aspoverty, injury, exploitation, abuse etc. than other persons of the society. If these problems arenot considered timely then it may have serious effects on the physical and mental health. Theexample of Mr. Holland Park comes under such category. He is suffering from eyes and hearingproblems. Other old age people also faces problems such as heart complexities, digestion andbreathing problems etc. These problems needs to be taken care of properly otherwise these canhave serious outcomes on the health of the peoples. Families of such people are also gettingvigilante regarding these problems and are taking suitable measures using help from health andsocial care centres. These people also finds it difficult to communicate their problems to theothers due to age, disability, stigma or fear. They need protection and assistance forcommunicating their issues.1.3: Analysis of the impact of legislation, social policy, society and culture on the ways thatservices are made available for individuals with specific needsThere are various impact of legislation, social policy, society and culture on the providedservices of health and social care. These factors effects the health and environment of peoplewith specific needs in social care services. The legislation of a country make sure that theservices are available to individuals having specific needs. If legislation ensures thesustainability of health and social care to the people having specific needs, then the services canbe provided easily to the people having specific needs (Coleman and et. al., 2012).
