PROJECT 1
Introduction
Resort Management for tourists in London is significant point to be focussed upon
because the visitor's attraction sector is experiencing tremendous growth. Maximum number of
tourists prefer resorts to spend their holidays in London as it tries to provide most of a visitor's
wants under a single roof (Stylidis and Cherifi, 2018). So, it is necessary to be managed
accordingly. The Lux Island Resort is a well-known resort in London which attracts more
number of tourists towards it. It helps people celebrate their holidays by delivering on the
promise of a different kind of Luxury, hospitality i.e., lighter and brighter.
This report will evaluate the various features of common resorts, the potential issues and
challenges in their management followed by mentioning the differences in operational
requirements of specialist areas. It will also analyse the types of resorts and their packages along
with the ways to fulfil overall sales objectives.
Different Types of Resorts
Resorts are of many types on the basis of the location, weather, and many more factors.
Maximum people in London choose resorts where they can go by their conveyance without
being exhausted (Lei, Pratt and Wang, 2017). So, the most important factor to classify the resorts
is in terms of the location. Every resort has its own features, along with some issues and
challenges also. Following are given the various types of resorts discussing the above mentioned
features :
Hill Station Resort
These resorts are confined to mountainous and hilly areas. Due to change in time and
technology, their purposes of existence changes to fulfil the demand of tourists.
Features: These resorts are remote and are made to make people stay without fear with their
community people and also to escape them from the scorching heat of the sun during summers
(Stankov and Filimonau, 2019). It also protects people from the crowdy and highly polluted
environment.

Issues: Due to increase in the population of the country, the hill stations are becoming more
crowded and thereby disturbing the peaceful environment of the resort. Due to more number of
vehicles, the pollution across these resorts is increasing rapidly. As, these resorts are summer
resorts, the maintenance of these will be expensive in winters as there are less tourists that time.
Challenges: Due to more construction and pollution, visiting these resorts becomes harmful for
the tourists. So, it acts as a great challenge to maintain these resorts being overcrowded day by
day (Favre-Bonte, Gardet and Thevenard-Puthod, 2019). During summers, water scarcity
problem becomes a major problem as the number of consumers increase, there is not adequate
amount of water for tourists.
Island Resorts
These are made near an ocean so that the visitors can take a dip in the sea, frolic in the
sand or just take the grandeur of the sea (dell’Agnese, 2019). Activities that attract more number
of tourist in these type of resorts are paragliding, scuba diving, jet skiing etc. Lux Island Resort
also has the similar features and faces the same issues as the other resorts which are as follows :
Features: It offers a wide range of service and amenities including lodging, food, drinks, sports,
entertainment, shopping etc. It is totally far from the madding crowds and are seasonal (World's
Most Exclusive Island Resorts, 2014).
Issues:Precious coral reefs are cleared and many native habitats are affected due to development
of the beach resorts. Environment is badly affected by these beach resorts.
Challenges: The waste water and the plastic bottles from the resorts harm the environment and
marine life which prove to be its biggest challenge.
Speciality Resorts
These include resorts like Lake, Spa, Casino, Ecotourism, Theme-based, Ski resorts, pet-
friendly resorts etc.
Features: These resorts are operated independently or with an association but doesn't have a
major chain. These have eccentric personality with creative guest offerings.
Issues: Along with stay, they need to offer something different to compete with the island resorts
having a beautiful natural environment. They have to create something different on their own to
attract the tourists.
