Global community refers to all the people from
around the world being connected closely with the
help of modern telecommunications and being
interdependent on each other in terms of political,
economical and social grounds. Initiatives taken to
built a just global community involves communities
moving forward with confidence in order to achieve
the vision for building an healthy environment. This
also includes a flourishing economy, effective
governance and the responsibility to connect to the
world. Such initiatives include the Global Citizenship
Education.

For contributing to help build a more just global community,
as an individual the following measures can be taken:
Thinking of all the people of the world as “one”.
Respecting and adopting other cultures.
Knowing one’s heritage along with that of others.
Understanding the global economy in terms of people,
land, and water.
Judge governance by how well it meets all people’s
needs
Pledge allegiance to the earth: question nationalism.
It is important to choose curiosity over certainty.
Never believing to have a right to anyone else’s
resources.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and
Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) is a specialised
agency of the United Nations (UN), which has the
mission to contribute to the building of peace,
reducing poverty and encouraging sustainable
development and intercultural dialogue. This is done
through promotion of education, sciences, culture,
communication and information. The UNESCO body
is governed by an assembly of all member states and
an executive board of 58 members ("UNESCO |
Educate a Child", 2018).

In order to contribute to the common good, the initiative adopted
by UNESCO includes:
Supporting the idea of Education for All (EFA)
Provision of regional and global leadership in the field of
education.
Building of efficient and effective education system to
support education from early childhood to the adult years,
worldwide.
Using education to respond to the contemporary global
challenges
It’s mission is to build peace in the global community by
trying to eradicate poverty and promoting sustainable
development. It also involves promotion of intercultural
dialogue through education, the sciences, culture,
communication and information.
Global education builds just global community through
education. It empowers people to improve themselves using
knowledge and skills.
UNESCO aims to make the right to quality education a
reality for every child, youth and adult ("Final thoughts:
working together as a global community", 2018).
